You definitely have some of the better PID tuning videos out there. You talk through what you are seeing well and you repeat your tests enough that it is easier to see the little quirks and wobbles you are referring to. I'd love to see a good video where someone takes the PIDs down to nothing and then tunes up to show the exaggerated effects. Great job. Keep it up.

Hello , I have many problems with vibrations , on hovering it looks very good, on max throttle it's not terrible but noticeable and its worst all between. Can you share blackbox log from this video and some other good quads that have debug_mode=notch? It would be very useful to compare some good flights logs to mine. I'm able to change PIDs that everything feels very nice in flight, but the image from GoPro session 5 has jello and vibrations in many places (not all the time), My GoPro setings: 2,7K, 30FPS, SperView, No stabilization. quick question - I was tuning my Alien KISS setup and it's pretty snappy, however, it no longer hovers in one spot without me having to fight it with the gimbals. If I center my sticks and give it throttle it wants to drift backwards now. Is this normal?
@TheRCAddict7 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the kiss configurator, but you probably need to add some trim in your radio. Try to get all channels (besides throttle) to be 1500 when you let go. You will probably find that pitch is 1490 or something similar causing this.

im confused is those pid numbers on betaflight? seems way to high. is it 6.2 or 62 for example
@TheRCAddict8 жыл бұрын
Yes, betaflight 2.8.1 and later use this scale, basically just times 10 so there are no more decimals. Only old beatflight adn cleanflight (which is old betaflight) use decimals anymore.

I am having a similar problem. My motor bearing seems off and the motor make a weird clicking noise. They also smell burnt. Were your motors coming down hot? Mine are... Any suggestions?
@TheRCAddict8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, bearings are probably going bad. If they are burning you might want to lower your D and make sure the motor screws aren't going up too far and touching the windings. Too much heat will cause demagnetization and you will then have to replace the whole motor.
@HisorAI8 жыл бұрын
The weird thing is I just got the motors (ZMX Fusion). Also, I am on stock tune. The screws are not to far in... I don't know what to do. I think I am going to lower P and D to start.

Hi guys. Problem If I have P and D to high can it cause motor to overheat ? I just had smoke come from motor 2 on quad. This problem only happen after using Gtune, Gtune Put P & D at max setting (Fly ok )
@TheRCAddict8 жыл бұрын
YES, P AND D can cause this. P causes the super hard oscsialltions that create heat, and D amplifies the noise which causes it to smoke. NEVER use the Gtune feature, it is totally worthless. Also that is in Cleanflight, get rid of that and flash to Betaflight 3.1

I still don't understand too much how you're getting your I values. I know I controls the amount of outside forces affecting flight, but how do you know to raise or lower them? How high is too high and how do I know they're too high? P's and D's I have a grip on, but when I watch your videos I get really confused on how you get your I values. I LOVE your tune videos btw.
@TheRCAddict7 жыл бұрын
I just kind of makes it feel more tight. Hard to explain. It counters outside forces, so you can just go up real high, and free fall looking down and if any axis moves raise it there. Don't use I gain as much to control the nose going up on quick throttle punches anymore, use the new anti gravity feature betaflight has, as it actually fully gets rid of it.

I also been getting into the racing fpv quads and have a Couple. I finally got into flying acro and omg its the only way to go. I mean doing a back flip then diving straight down or diving upwards is just sick to me. But i have yet to build my own quad and tune my quad. Does it take a long time and allot of trial and error to build and tune your first quad? I have to try it soon. Do you have any tips? Thanks man.

@frostlife8 жыл бұрын
Hey man, do you mind helping me with a similar issue? I have the same mid throttle oscillations in your video that I can't figure out. It happens on default PIDs. I'm using a KISS FC with KISS 24a ESCs, and T-Motor F60 2450kv motors. I have a video on my channel about the problem and hopefully you can watch it and give some input. I also only had one small crash, and that was into grass (link to it is in the video description on my channel). It would really suck if it were my motors, because this is a brand new build! If it's because one strike in grass killed one of my F60's, I'm switching to Lumenier RX2206's. Thank you for taking the time to do this PID tuning series, I've learned a lot from it in the past. These mid/semi-high throttle oscillations are really bugging me with this KISS setup.
@TheRCAddict8 жыл бұрын
You obviously haven't been watching many of the popular pilots lately ;) Especially with Kiss, I bet soft mounting your motors will fix the issues. Kiss is known for those.
