Hi there, I'm in Toronto Canada and stumbled upon your video. I have to tell you it's one of the best, if not THE best review video I've seen for a kid's bike! The content, your narrating, the details and personal real-world experience and even how we're watching your son ride it through different scenarios and we can see how the bike looks as it's ridden and not in a shop! Fantastic! You should be a professional KZbin reviewer of bikes. Thanks for the great content and be well!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I looked for a very long time for the right kids bike for my son and was very much surprised how little information there was available in the way of reviews for children’s bikes. I was aware it wasn’t as large of a market but felt like it could benefit others to have the real world reviews of a product that deserves as much attention as it’s adult counterparts. Truly thank you for your comment. I’m continuing to edit a few videos that I’d already recorded and will continue to do my best to maintain quality! Stay safe and enjoy.

Excellent review! Been looking for a mountain bike for my son, and was recommended the Rip Rock. Now, I have to go look for one, as it seems to be sold out everywhere (I live in Japan).

Bikes are hard to find worldwide right now. It’s actually at the top of the list of outdoor equipment that is difficult to find because of all the supply disruptions due to covid-19. If you find one that works size wise jump on it! It has been a wonderful bike! Good luck!!! 👍🏼

Thanks for sharing. I've just got a used one for my daughter. Do you think 2.4 tires fit on these wide rims ? The 2.8 look so big and heavy it feels a little too much for a kid.

so he went from a 16 inch to a 24 inch I think thats a little strange thanks for the review!
@pidcoemw854 жыл бұрын
Yes. He was right on the line for 20 inch and 24 inch. I honestly could have gone either way with him, but he didn’t seem to have any adjustment issues to the 24 inch size. It’s honestly nice because it gives him room to grow into it for a couple of years. Thanks for checking this out and hopefully it helped!!

Did your son have any problems with the grip shifter? I'm thinking of picking the bike up for my daughter. But I'm conflicted about the grip shift. Her current bike, which is just a big-box-store mountain bike (Canadian Tire up here in Toronto) had a grip shift. She could barely shift, it was so tight. I swapped it out for a trigger shifter on my own...and can probably do that with Specialized Riprock...if I can find the parts. But if this is a better quality grip shift, and child friendly, I'll give it a shot! Great video. Many thanks!

He had no issues and adjusted easily. He was coming from a single speed so the biggest learning cure ever was that he had gears to use in the first place. He’s still riding the bike on an almost daily basis and absolutely loves it!

Awesome. I picked up the turquoise blue! Sitting in the basement, waiting for winter to pass. She comes down to stare at it several times a day. Thanks for replying!

How is the bike going? We are looking at the same for our kids, and really liked the video. Quick question, now that you have had it for a while now, do you think the plus size tyres inhibit them too much on the climbs? Thank you in advance
@pidcoemw854 жыл бұрын
Chris Macca my son still loves it and pedals it around almost daily, weather permitting. Our first real trip was out to Bakers creek preserve in Knoxville and it was all climbing or descending. I actually think it helps them because of the wider tires you can run lower pressures and get more tread on the ground for both climbing and grip for turning. If anything it would slow his descents since they have a higher rolling resistance with the wider tread pattern. On a kids bike I don’t see this as an issue either personally. All and all we are really happy with it and it’s handling the daily rides of an excited 8 year old very well. Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate the feedback and questions!

Thank you for the video, may I ask how tall was your little guy? I’m torn between a 20” and a 24”.
@pidcoemw854 жыл бұрын
At the time of this video he was just over 4 feet tall (49 inches.) The 24 that I got him was on the bigger side and he could have gone to either size but I wanted him to have more room to grow. Hope this helps you out a bit! It’s been a great bike and we love the confidence it’s given him.
