I've discovered that a lot of sewists think that you can't quilt with knit jersey, but those projects are often my most used and definitely most comfy cozy. In this video, learn the steps necessary to prepare knit fabric for quilting pillows or quilts. From interfacing to glue basting, once you get the tips and tricks from this video, the sky's the limit for using knit in your quilting projects.

You brought back sweet memories. My Grandmother made a few double knit quilts when she retired from Burlinton Industries.

Yesss! I found this video while searching how to use vintage knits my grandmother had accumulated from an OshKosh factory. 💖

I got a bunch of knit fabrics for free and had no idea how difficult they were for quilting. This video helped a lot. Thank you!

Love both the light stabilizer idea for knit fabric AND glue-basting the seams open. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I was asked to make a quilt using knit tops from a friend's mom who had passed away. I wanted to do it right and was happy to see I already had the same interfacing and glue pen to get the project done.

I'm working on something like that too. Except using fabric slashing, reverse applique and embroidery. The knit scares me though. Good luck on your projects. Nice video ❤

Have you ever used knitted crumb scraps for any projects?

I've just watched your videos on working with Jersey. Thanks for them! Have you ever tried piecing a quilt without the interfacing? I'm really interested in figuring out how to make a quilt with no additional bulk or stiffness. I've tried starching the pieces and that works pretty well, but it's a ton of work for not an ideal pay-off. Thanks

I use lots of knits & stretchy materials in my crazy quilts by using foundation pieces (usually old sheets) for whatever size I want the block to be.

I was asked to long arm quilt a double knit quilt top that are 4" squares that had been done many years ago by her mother. should I put a stabilizer on the back of this quilt top or do you think I could just glue down the seams without stabilizing the back?

Hi Mathew! Greetings from drshinyshoes in Seattle. I think I want to try my first quilt using this basic technique of squares. I am guessing it will work with wool scraps left over from my trousers?

I would only dry clean it. I had a quilt from Pottery Barn that had tweed. Sorry I gave it away!

I have a question. I've been doing some research on interfacing because I personally don't know anybody who uses it (barely anyone I know sews). All the tips and guides say not to iron directly on the interfacing because it will stick to the iron. What do you do differently? Thanks for any answer!

Mister Domestic Thank you! None of the tutorials I read or watched even mentioned that there is single- or double-sided fusible!

Do you think there is a difference between the blue and pink glue? I know that’s a random question, but I’ve watched a number of your videos and noticed you seem to favor the blue.

After applying interfacing do you think it would be okay to mix woven with knit? Or no? I guess I can just try. I want to use up these great scraps from sewing fashion clothing and I have about 50% woven 50% knit and I don't want to be limited. I guess I could just start two quilts one woven and one knit using scraps - would just take longer. Thanks for this great video!

And ... you could also glue baste the seams AND add a decorative stitch to the seams to hold them down yes? I have never quilted before, am planning first quilt (or quilts) am I being too ambitious? But you could have a pretty stitch like stitching in the ditch to hold down a waist band throughout the entire quilt yes? No - more like a top stitch. Your thoughts?

Why would someone say you can’t quilt with knits? Isn’t that what a lot of T-shirt quilts are made with? Thanks for sharing
