In July of 2021, me and my good friend Cheesebeard set off on our traverse of Iceland, from the North-West corner of Iceland hiking on foot all the way down to the South coast. This is video three in my hiking vlog from the trip. I hope you enjoy the journey.

Your plan is to hike from North Star Hotel at Staðarflöt to Hveravellir (I think that is the place you tried to pronounce :-) )? Oh - now the real fun begins! Good luck!

Pardon me some comments. 04:20 mess of a shoe! 06:36 the bridge on Arnarvatnsvegur over the river Austurá 07:10 "... all the day gravelroad walking" on Arnarvatnsvegur heading direction "the epic mountain" Eiriksjökull 07:40 old cabin at the lake Arnavatn stóra 08:20 on Skagfirðingavegur "... it looked like we left Iceland and we stepped on the moon ..." No boys - you just entered the heart of Iceland! Even Stórisandur may look a bit barren, all the landscape north of Hveravellir is just lovley Tundra :-) 11:08 take a closer to the stones. The stones may have a round shape but their surface has a microstructure with razorblade sharp edges: baslatic lava is a real shoe-killer! Forget trailrunners in Iceland: they are a mess! The only boots that can survive more than 2 long hikes in Iceland are sturdy made of leather, have a thick gravel protection and protect the ankles. 11:25 sing: 'an other one bites the dust' on road 35 Kjalvegur somewhere near Arnarbæli 11:45 you took a shortcut direction Hveravellir and crossed river Þegjandi? 12:54 Þegjandi to cross again. Welcome to Hveravellir - I am very curious which way you are taking now.
