Pier Fishing KING SALMON on Lake Michigan

Fishing for Spring King Salmon off the pier on Lake Michigan.
What you guys are seeing is pretty rare and I can only hope to keep the streak alive next year. Conditions have to be perfect and even then the stars still have to align a bit. We got lucky!

I've fished the Piers a few times at S.H. and Holl., but never seem to go the right times of the year. Always catch Freshwater Drums and although they put up a good fight, especially the 8+#er's, I want to catch something I can eat. Definitely more Pier Vids with some tips on the best time to go for different species. 🦾🐟

How far out on that pier/ what depth ish did you guys throw that net? If you can remember . Iv been throwing with little luck to get the aleweye. Any tip on that step specifically would help!

We tried a few on channel side and a few tosses on lake side. If they're there they will be visible just beneath the surface

Yeah you really want to make sure you’re fishing when the lake flips especially later in the summer. Look for water temps just above/below 50f. You can look up the buoys out of each port and they will give you temp readings
