Great stuff those Cohos were dandy!!! So I grew up slinging KO's (best casting spoon ever) off Frankfort and Manistee but the last couple years have been only throwing Deep Walleye Bandits. Forgot my spoon box one night but had a box of cranks in the truck so after flailing some different kinds that I couldn't cast for shit I put on a Bandit and soon realized I could throw it damn near as far as a KO and that slow lazy wobble was the jam, caught 7 the first night I tried it and they keep producing. I can wind them down to 24ft with 12lb braid and the white or the double glow is straight money!! Give it a try man you won't be mad at it. You nailed it with the temp deal. People who don't believe in it don't catch near the fish. Any North or offshore winds for us is straight money. Wisconsin temp is always on the surface due to prevailing offshore winds
@Chiefz Жыл бұрын
I see nothing but facts here! I’ll definitely give those crankbaits a try. Finding some that are above 3/4oz really seems to be the key. Casting distance is huge for more hookups
@FISHGEEK007 Жыл бұрын
@Chiefz without a doubt. The Deep Bandits weigh 5/8 but they cast plenty far and also are at target depth just inside where they land if you follow what I mean, couple cranks and it's down at depth. They have proven super worthy especially if there are 4 ot 5 guys all chucking spoons. I pay close attention to my retrieve when I get bit too as some nights they want it moving but 80% of the time it's as slow as you can wind once you crank it down to depth. Tonight is going to be good

Absolutely the most fun fish to cast for when they are there. We fished locos, crocodiles, and cleos. At night, we put glow tape on the spoons and charged it with flashlights. It helped us know where the business ends of our lines were. Dont know how much the fish were attracted, but they didn't seem to mind.

Mid day sight fishing with lightweight jigs and plastics is what I finally got them to eat. Love your videos! Wisconsin side has been fantastic the whole year! One thing I’d point out and maybe I missed it but when you click on a buoy let’s take Sheboygan for example they have a water probe at various depths down to 69 feet down. Currently the water temp at that probe which is out in 120 feet of water is 40 degrees! Surface temp is 52 degrees. Kinda like a fish hawk from your man cave and gives you an idea what setups to use to be on fish before you go out.

When the lake flips does it take some time for salmon to move into the cooler water or do they move in right away?
@Chiefz4 ай бұрын
@@Fishinfool8504 I think it’s relative to the time of year. Generally speaking, if a fish comes in on a flip and sticks around without pushing, they will become more tolerant of warm water when the lake temperature begins rising again. That’s why you’ll still see fish in harbors when the waters warm in August. They might not be the most bitey, but they’ll sit there and rot until they feel they need to run the river. Just my observation, to each their own
