I liked Brosnan as bond, I do find the Dalton and Brosnan period to be interesting with the what could've been and should've been. Dalton I feel was a brilliant bond who just needed one or two more films to really show audiences what he was trying to do, it's a shame that MGM's legal problems caused so many delays that by the time Goldeneye's script was ready Dalton just didn't want to do it by that point.

I don't know. Pierce looked too young and skinny when they first approached him to become Bond, although he might have done a good job. But he was perfect for the role later on and I remember when I went to see GoldenEye, some in the audience knew what he had previously been through and cheered as soon as he appeared. Then they settled back and enjoyed the show, confident that the character of Bond was in the right hands.

In an alternate reality, Dalton would have had his turn earlier, either in the early and mid-1970s or the early 1980s; Brosnan would have starred in 1987 and 1989. Oddly enough on UK telly it was always moore or connerys. Not that I don’t rate Dalton . Then when brosnan came along he joined that list of reruns . So for me it’s them 3 . Now Craig’s are blasted on itv2/3/4 on repeat he will be some kid out there’s growing up bond . I think you don’t have a bond you grew up on it’s just whatever is played at the time is the one you remember.

So interesting seeing these interviews. They canceled RS and then renewed so many people, not only PB, had to come back to the show. But other interviews say how bitter and disappointed he was. You could tell in S5 how he plays his character as annoyed and bitter. His ex co-star Stephanie Zimbalist has mentioned that she was the one contracted to be in Robocop and even had a fitting. PB didn't have a contract at all.

My N.O.1 favorite Bond is debatable between Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig. Pierce Brosnan was the very first Bond I watched back in 2005-2006 via Goldeneye-The World is Not Enough, right around the time when Daniel Craig was about to debut with Casino Royale

@CRITTERBUSTERS3 жыл бұрын
I Like Brosnan but The Living Daylights did make $191 Million without him, outgrossing Roger Moore's last two films and a few other earlier films. Dalton was a fine bond, but maybe too brutal and serious for audiences in 1987, however the two films he did hold up better than the last two Brosnan made.
@DafyddBrooks3 жыл бұрын
@@CRITTERBUSTERS ooooo i dont know, the world is not enough is great though . license to kill still has valid critisms against it though, but yes Die another was a joke hahah
@CRITTERBUSTERS3 жыл бұрын
@@DafyddBrooks Licence to Kill’s criticism for me is sketchy at best, lots of people said it was too much like Miami Vice or Lethal Weapon and too brutal. However lots of bond films took influence from what was popular at the time so that’s an invalid argument for me. One of the better arguments against Licence to Kill is that it’s production design is uneven (it looks nice one minute then ugly the next) some of the supporting cast may not be the best and the ending is perhaps a little too neat and tidy for a gritty bond adventure. World is not enough I thought started off promising but it has so many problems with its narrative and Renard was wasted as a villain. I think Both Brosnan and especially Dalton were given the short end of the stick when it came to their films. Dalton never got his much needed 3rd film thanks to studio lawsuits and Brosnan kept getting handed subpar scripts after Goldeneye (which by the way was originally written for Dalton).
@DafyddBrooks2 жыл бұрын
@@CRITTERBUSTERS Yep I'll agree on the 3rd Dalton movie part. I wish he got that too and had his contract fulfilled and maybe even have a 4th film as well :) But to go from PG rated movie to a 15 rating was not a very wise move at all. I 'll forgive it like Quantum in that in went through a writers strike and was released in summer 89 but it shouldn't need to be so brutal at all. Dalton seemed like he wasn't going to perform the lighter, romantic or comedic moments in TLD which I think effected the movie and had he done so, audience would have welcomed him more. If Brosnan wasn't going to be in TLD today, Twitter and KZbin would go wild and full of hatred. so its interesting seeing all the demonstrators outside of NBC giving their support for him and I'll always be shocked at why he wasn't brought back for a 5th film and he was essentially fired in March 2004 :( good thoughts though man :)
@CRITTERBUSTERS2 жыл бұрын
@@DafyddBrooks To each their own, I liked the brutality of Licence to Kill, it was consistent with the tone of the story and villain. Quantum of Solace I feel was legitimately awful, not because of the brutality but because of its crappy editing , boring story and lame villains. It was a second rate rip off of Licence to Kill in my eyes.
