WOW! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE VIDEO -IT WAS FUN AND EXCITING!! PIERRE LAMBERT HANDS DOWN WON THREE CHALLENGE. ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE OTHER PHOTOGRAPHER, WAS WHEN HE SPLIT UP PEOPLE, HE KEPT A PIECE OF THE OTHER PERSON'S ARM IN THE SHOT!! HE TOOK GREAT PHOTOS OF WHAT HE GOT...BUT YOURS WERE MORE POWERFUL!

15:14 the way he switched his facial expression from smiling😀 to 😐
@cryora

When people do that, it's like they were faking the smile the whole time, and their frown shows their real emotions.
@UNDEFINEDpreSENCE
@UNDEFINEDpreSENCE 3 жыл бұрын
@@cryora Not necessarily... I mean, sure, he may have faked his smile, but who knows? It’s fine as long as it’s not “the cringe” smile 😬😭But don’t assume every frown means that a person is in a bad mood. Some folks will naturally appear as if they’re frowning (e.g., angry or sad). Hell, my naturally resting face looks like I’m mean or ‘unfriendly’ to strangers, but that’s just how my face naturally sits. & on top of that, I’m a deep thinker, so it’s slightly intensified whenever I’m having a deep thought. So, it’s annoying as hell when a total stranger make assumptions about how you feel (facial expressions are unreliable when it comes to accurately interpreting how folks truly feel).

i know this comment is two years old but i think if you have a friend while doing this just following you around and if u act somewhat excited and enthusiastic you will have an easier time convincing people to shoot, it also probably depends on the weather, time of day, month, how cold or hot it is, how old they are, what country your in and what city. I know nothing about photography however and just watch these videos for fun

Someone else mentioned this as well, but I think the approach had a lot to do with Pierre’s success. He seemed more confident and started the conversation with a compliment where Jerome started by apologizing. No matter what, it still takes a lot of guts to do that. Kudos to both of you and keep those videos coming!

Jerome, don't say "Sorry" as an intro. Just ask if you can take their photo with a smile on your face, and laugh in your voice. You will get more Yes's that way, and faster too! Even just miming "I want to take your photo" works as well, in my limited experience. I am an introvert, so do find it hard to ask often, so, sometimes I ask, other times, I mime the ask. It seems to work well. Plus having a smile on my face puts the subject at ease, even though smiling for me, is not a natural state. Take from this what you will, and I hope it helps.

I notice Lambert usually commits on people's accessories first then explains what he is doing. Example " excuse me that ['item'] looks great on you, I'm doing a challenge etc", chances of him grabbing a photo is highly likely.

Nice! What I take from this is that the approach you take when asking is what makes the difference, the first guy seems very experienced in doing this and thus had the best approach by complimenting people and being quicker with his words which made him more inviting.. the second although good, was more formal and reserved which is why I think people were more hesitant... also, like someone suggested, I would carry around business cards, it would make you look more professional and serious and not like you are just trying to get photos of people for free (I know you guys go back to these people afterwards but some of them kept on miving), don't mean this in a bad way, I just felt that if someone took a picture of me, I would want the picture and would also be wondering what's going to happen to it or what it would be used for. but really learned a few good tips on how to look more inviting to people. Thank you guys.

Great video! I think it would be even better if it was a rule to not mention the challenge unless explicitly asked. That would be closer to the situation most photographers face and I also find the interactions much more interesting if the challenge is not the main talking point.

Just what I needed! My photography professor wanted me to take pictures of 15 strangers for an assignment. Now I know how to do it!

I was smiling watching this entire thing. Anxiety shooting through the roof because I know EXACTLY how nerve-racking doing that can be. Awesome job!

From the video quality I thought photos of random people would be very bad. But the end result suprised me!😵 I never thought cameras would change the prospective like this, all those photos were epic! Looked way better than amy photo I ever took in my life! And those were on spot without any preparation or posing at all

Your street challenges are a lot of fun to watch. Question: How do you handle giving your subjects access to their photos? Thanks,

I love doing landscape photography. I’m still very much an amateur but really enjoy getting out and practicing. Something about portraits like this intrigue me, kinda seems fun for some reason. And I’m even fairly shy! Haha
