Hi Piet. Merry Christmas from the Great "not white at all" North !! It's (-18c/-23c) there today, and (plus 3c) here right now. Supposed to snow tonight, and maybe have "some" snow for Christmas, but it looks iffy !! Hope the family and the team at the farm have a nice holiday. How is the International Ice Hockey Rink out front coming along?? he he he he I hope the Moo Cows are keeping warm, and the littlest Moos as well !! Winter has already slammed out West on the Prairies, not so much on this side of the country as of yet.

Hello Piet, calves look great. Do the calves sometimes suffer from diarrhea or can you keep it under control? The calf shed looks very clean, which helps a lot. But if you work with a lot of staff, you must have clear protocols. At the dairy farm where I work, the calves sometimes suffer from crypto diarrhea. We give them extra collostrum with the milk for 14 days. Thank you for sharing your beautiful farm with us, I am really impressed👍🇧🇪

We will have calves with diarrhea as well, we'll give electrolytes to any calves with thin manure and give probiotics if it's really thin. Occasionally, more treatment is needed, but being clean and consistent in feeding seems to go a long way.
