I am a master watershed steward in PA and I can tell you that building a riparian buffer would help to mitigate the washouts. In time as it matures, you will see an ecological impact as well. There should be resources and programs available in your area to get help with planning it. In our area, there are grants that we can apply for to get work and plantings done for free. At the very least there are volunteer programs that will help with plantings - free labor lol. Look into it for spring.

Gina your videography skills are great. I really enjoy seeing how you tie everything together. On the funny side. I ordered 3 bags of coffee at the last drop you guys did. It arrived at our small post office and sat there for several days before i could pick it up. In the meantime it just sat. When i walked in the postal clerk looked at me and just said, “Oh darn Al’s here for his coffee. We were hoping you wouldn’t pick it up.” I swear when i walked into the lobby i could smell the coffee. Next time I’ll order and extra bag just for the postal clerks to enjoy. Maybe you could consider putting a card in the package with your website and KZbin channel information that buyers like me could give away. Several other customers behind me all made comments about how good the coffee smelled.

You might want to get a engineer to come out and take a look at your site. He can tell you where you might need to dig to put in more corrugated pipes or you might need to build up the ground and put in a bridge because you're land is low when you have over flow. And if you don't put in a bridge every time you have over flow your road will wash out. You need a engineer.

Maybe multi culverts in that area that washed out would be a good idea that way if one plugs up the other ones could keep it from over flowing . That little bridge where all the animals crossed the creek would be a good trail cam and tree stand spot . If U bagged that big moose that made those marks U might need a BIG FREEZER for all that . Wow that`s pretty high up.

Good morning! Al, we once did what your describing with the plexiglass and when it got cold and we moved it, it was prone to breaking if it caught at all. After 2 years of messing with different ways of using the slots, my Dad gave up on the slots and made a frame out of wood that slide back and forth and when you lifted it, it could come out and one with a screen could be put in. I know your a head in videos and your probably already done with the project, but I wanted to pass on our experience with doing it the way your going to. It was also about 37 years ago and the products might have gotten better by now, hope yours works better then ours did, but the framed ones worked better and sealed better too where they overlapped. Have a wonderful weekend!

Build a secondary escape road just in case something like this happens and you really need to get off the property. Reason could be fire or flood. My community has one for this purpose. No one uses it regularly it’s just maintain in case.

Excellent suggestion
@chriscampbell58783 күн бұрын
To much unnecessary expense. As long as one of the vehicles could make it why spend the money to make another road that would probably wash out as well...
@cathiwim3 күн бұрын
Actually, in the Gatlinburg fires several years ago, people were killed because many of the roads had only one way in and out, and they got trapped. I think a secondary access road, even if it is a trail you can ride your side by side on, is an excellent idea! But make sure any gates have cameras.
@glyndevonport78024 күн бұрын
Good morning Al and Gina. With the road having washed out twice in the same area in recent months, and now that you have larger machines, have you considered placing large rocks on the downstream side of the road to help prevent or minimise future washouts.

In that way, you can provide both of your board. No matter what your your plexiglass matter what and then if you need to take out glass, you can always unscrew the inside board. Slide amount there you go in

Hello Lumnahs, I hope everyone's doing okay. I lived in Beamsville Ontario on a farm there when I was younger. We had this problem in the cherry orchard . My father had to take several small streams and make them into one small river and put a pipe under the road that kept washing away. It was a lot of work damming the streams so they would flow into a small river, and creating a river in the first place ,but we never had a problem after that. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄✨🎉🎁

Still quite a lot of white stuff after 2” of rain! I’m thinking any 6” culvert needs to be replaced by 12”…. And a Few of them ought to be larger! Do you think that “blow out” on the roadway was from over flow, or did something upstream give way and created a burst of water? Just seamed odd it was only digging out one side of the road. Of course I don’t know if your rain turned into more snow or if most of the white we see is now frozen slush. Good video showing the everyday trials on the OHP! Loved Gina’s comment “sunny to recharge the battery systems…. Sounds like she might have plans for all that power!! Christmas goodies or laundry hmmmm…. either or both ! “Hello to Miss Olivia!”
