Wow. Thanks for that great time lapse shot. It's impressive to see them work. They tear through that like wet paper.

Man, you hit the nail on the head by predicting the pigs would root thru that area quickly. It's unbelievable how deep they can easily dig. And so fast. Congrats! Love everything that you and your family are doing!

I love what you are doing on your farm. If I were young and had the acreage I would be doing the same as you. Unfortunately I am retired and live in a small town with 0.17 acre of land. I do have chickens and a small garden plot that provides enough for my hubby and me. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you. Much Love!

I love seeing this work harnessing animal behavior to accomplish what would be otherwise arduous tasks with ease. It's so nice to give those pigs something to do, keeping them healthy and happy. Work smarter, not harder, and produce as much as possible onsite. The new time lapse camera is a wonderful addition.

An awesome video. I had wanted to see Salatin's process at work. You can see in the time lapse how they found the first few cobs of corn then they go nuts and by the end they are systematically turning the bedding almost like rolling a carpet. Amazing how quick they turn it all.

Wow, I had no idea how strong a pig's snout is! Haha. They are strong, focused and determined. What fun to watch, especially as a time lapse video. I'm sure you will have A+ quality compost when all is said and done.

They can move rocks weighing hundreds of pounds, and I've heard they can roll away logs weighing a ton. They're impressively strong.

They're some lovely pigs - are they Tamworths? Nicely done on taking what's often seen as a destructive habit of pigs and turning it to your advantage. Speaking of the fun of watching them, it would be really nice if you could add the occasional live webcam feed of the livestock to the channel at some point?

Don't listen to the haters, this is a perfect place for a pig and they look like they are having a ball looking for that fermented corn. I can't wait to see how rich that compost will become, it'll be better than anything you could buy. I presume the compost is going to be spread onto your fields to boost the grass?
@verteup7 жыл бұрын
Weelav hes going to use the compost on the garden. it would be 100% waste to use it on a pasture because he wont have enough of it to make a difference.

Dear Simeon, why not do a multi lingual version of your video clips, ie: English as well as German??? After all it would help your popularity spread throughout Austria, part of Switzerland, part of Luxembourg, Liechtenstein & part of France North East in Alsace) & any part of the world where people of German ancestry might appreciate hearing something in their native language, a lot of folks out there are not quite Anglophile. Best of luck with your pigs ( much maligned by certain communities but highly intelligent creatures & not as filthy as made out to be). Kind regards.
@RS-jj7yj7 жыл бұрын
man...they're mini bulldozers. at that rate I'm guessing you won't need 3 weeks

The whole thing will be turned over before that, but then it has to compost.

yea man when you give the pigs something to dig for they really dig hard. they can do the work of 5 men in just a little time. I think pigs are essential for any farm. They turn rotten fermented vegetables into bacon. Doesn't get any better than that.
