Lovely video Adam. Particularly liked the last few minutes with the close ups of the birds in nesting area. Pigeons are so beautiful :) Love the wattle on the older ones too, looks like they have plenty of character!

🙃 The little black bird was looking like he don't know to do! Haha! Keep up the good vids Adam! 👍I love that old black bird you have paired up with almond.
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yea the black cock might be a little too young. He's only 6 months old, I'd never try to breed a hen this young but I thought a cock might be ok. If he doesn't show any interest soon I'll just give him a few more months to mature 👍

Oooooh I really LOVE the barless. I miss breeding pigeons so much but I just moved out of the country and had to sell all my birds. Need to wait until I get my own place because my grandma doesn't like pigeons 😂

Good work Adam. Your one of the best fanciers in the WORLD!! I have a bird with similar colour to that very interesting looking 'baby'. What would you call that and have you breed from that bird yet?
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
Hahah thank you! The baby is a smoky recessive opal. I have her to a new fancier, but both those genes are recessive so unless he pairs her so another bird who carries both genes he won't get one the same from her.
@miroslavpenchev56034 жыл бұрын
Hello adam! Nice video! What's happening with the red bar baby from the yellow project? Also Why don't you try pairing the checker barless hen to a bar cock and go on the project? Good luck!
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, the red baby has gone to another loft to race, and I'll pair the check/barless young bird in the future 👍

Can I pick your brain soon for genetic and pattern questions? I have watched every video of yours. Working on a bald head but not your usual one. Black birds you sent to Kurt are great. Hate one overflew a few weeks back. Take care Adam.

2 questions 1. Is the next pen Maney's? 2. Hen pairing with another hen?! Does that happen a lot? I see your birds flying nicely in the other loft. You have very deep knowledge of genetics. Very interesting talks you give.. I feel like I am in a medical conference! Nice, keep it up
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
I send four pigeons to Maney, but none of the current pairs will be going over there. I might breed some more for him in the future. Yes, if there are only hens in the loft it is very common for them to pair together.

I have read that winter is a good time to breed pigeons, but I'm worried that the temperatures get too cold where I live, I don't want the babies to freeze to death. Our winter temperatures range from 60 down to 12 degrees Fahrenheit,it can go from one extreme to the other in only a few weeks. My breeding pens are portable so would it be alright if I brought them in the house when it gets cold or would this stress them out?
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
Wow that's much colder than here, even the coldest winter days barely drop below 5°C. In my experience pigeons don't like their boxes being moved, but I've seen others do it successfully too. Personally I wouldn't risk it, but you may be able to make it work.
@theresecampion84454 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your fast reply! I think I'll give it a try with one pair and see if they'll do it. Sure would be nice if our winters were as warm as yours.😂 Would heat lamps do the trick??

So I've heard that males carry two colors while females only carry one color and that color is the one you see is that true? And I have an almond roller could I breed it to a black hen to produce more almonds?
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
It is true, but ONLY for the base colours (blue, ash red, brown). You're best pairing your almond to a dark check or recessive red to produce more almonds.
@alanjpoole72744 жыл бұрын
Do you ever breed pigeons to race or is it all purely to see what colours you can get?
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
All my pigeons are bred to race. I breed multiple winners each year.

Hello
@sherylgilman44944 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to have irritated you. It's just that I've seen many lofts on U tube that are very very clean. So I was surprised to see so much build up in a nesting area. I know pigeons are not cleanliness.
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
All good - I take a lot of pride in my pigeons and clean the cages very regularly. These smaller boxes are more difficult to keep clean, and I'm looking forward to having them back in the main loft where cleanliness is much easier 👍
@sherylgilman44944 жыл бұрын
Why are your nesting areas so filthy? This is something I see quite often. Pigeon areas coated with feces melded with feathers and trash.
@AdamArcherPigeons4 жыл бұрын
I literally gave the answer in the video. They are cleaned daily, but pigeons never stop pooping. I'd have to be cleaning 24/7 if you want each dropping to be cleaned as it happens.
