I've heard this one before and I've always enjoyed it. However, I didn't know it was native to my home province of Småland, where I was born and grew up, before I left for university 15 years ago. As I said, I didn't know this was a local song, yet hearing you play makes me feel very homesick.
@nocturne7371Ай бұрын
Yes, in Sweden, with these kind of songs, you assume they are from Dalarna, Värmland or Hälsingland. Mostly because most of them are from there.

@EmelieWaldken6 жыл бұрын
Merci !

@EmelieWaldken4 жыл бұрын

You played beautifully. What is the name of this instrument in Denmark? Please say. It is a nice instrument that I loved at the first sight. Thank you so much.

The instrument is also called Nyckelharpa in Danemark (possibly spelled a bit differently sometimes, for example nøkkelharpe). Thanks for the compliment.

Emelie, what’s music play from 1-14 second? Can it listen full version?
@EmelieWaldken3 жыл бұрын
It's said in the description : Credits intro music : CD 'Norsk folkemusikk på radio - Dei fyrste åra på radio', track 10, tune 'Vill du vara venn min' It's from a collection of recordings of the norwegian radio dating back to the 1930s. It's the oldest radio program in the world that is still running today. I highly recommend it if you love norwegian music. The package is simply called "Norsk folkemusikk på radio" and is composed of 10 CDs, more infos there : grappa.no/en/albums/grappa/norsk-folkemusikk-norwegian-folk-music-1-10/

where do you suggest finding nychelharpa in the U.S. ? or Sweden ?
@EmelieWaldken3 жыл бұрын
In the US, get in touch with the American Nyckelharpa Association ! In Sweden... depends where. The easiest is to get into the folk music scene, that's where all the musicians are.

What are some unique characteristics of Finnish folk music compared to other Scandinavian countries?
@EmelieWaldken6 жыл бұрын
Well, to be honest I don't know much at all about finnish folk music in particular - that's also why I don't speak often about it. I know that the finnish national folk instrument is the kantele, so not the fiddle as in Sweden and Norway. Also the dances are quite different apparently - but in the swedish-speaking part of Finland, the repertoire and style are very close to swedish.

Search for Memory of Music and you'll get a bunch of exclusive finnish instruments.
