I love fishing for brook trout up here in Northwestern Wisconsin. I use my old reliable bush fly rod because of the tiny streams and scrub oak. We used to have a couple bever dams that were loaded but someone else found them and instead of catch and release they threw them up on the bank and decimated the population. I would have cried if I hadn't been so pissed off.

Some of my favorite fishing is for trout. My brother-in-law doesn't like eating them either, or at least he didn't used to, until I mentioned that they are kinda related to salmon so maybe smoking some would work. He has a great smoked salmon recipe and smoked trout is really good too.
@dwhit65293 жыл бұрын
It depends on the trout i have had stockers that are just horrible that nobody should eat and then i have had steelhead that are great and pink meat kinda like salmon just a lil fishier.
@BCM19593 жыл бұрын
@@dwhit6529 no argument about that. Planters that survive a year or two get better tasting, still not as good as native fish. Lake Amador breeds their own planters and they are good pink meat.

Vid 69 of saying check out barrel disgorgers, its basically a stick with a cylinder on the end with a grove in it, you hold the line tight, put the line in the groove, and push down till you hit the bend of the hook, then just push down, if its deep hooked, and use the right size disgorger, the point will go flat against the cylinder, so can actually go a bit into the stomach on the push down if needed, and wont rehook on the removal
