The problem with many venues now is they're not always easily accessible.They're either members only, no parking nearby or simple not accessible as there's no path and many areas fenced off or gates shut etc......There's 3 reservoirs not far from me,one is members only the other only 26 days allowed fishing per year and the other now no fishing at all. Try going to Dobbs Weir in Hertfordshire for example,parking is limited,a lot is fenced off and it goes for miles with a very narrow path used by the general public.Many lakes are hammered for carpers and many venues taking pike out.When you do find venue info they'll tell you all about the carping but no info on pike or just a small sign thet say "pike" with no info on how many in the lake or how often they get caught.Very few good day ticket pike waters in Essex too.Berwick Pond and The Warren both good for pike and used to be day ticket now members only.

I've been going to a lake by my house for pike been there 3 times and the only time I've caught has been from 11 to 1 usually start around 7 to 8 am

as an all rounder this is ok, as a pike specialist this sucks your rigs are crude and your bite indication is even worse, on difficult lakes (not untouched trout waters) you would suffer with many many dropped runs and endless blanks, it just goes to show how easy virgin waters can be for the novice. if you need some real advice please ask

definitely shouldn't be promoting pike fishing with a non rubber net, if a pike clamps down on the net hes using and spins you can be in real trouble
