Got to love SavageGear. Love all they’re gear over the years and now they go and bring out reels. Best start saving for a new Pike baitcaster.

Great video, enjoyed it. I've just started Pike fishing properly. I've only ever caught a few Jacks messing around since I first started fishing in my teens. I bought a cheap Abu Garcia Ultra Light rod & reel for Perch recently and caught a 20lb 7oz Pike on the canal near me on a 10g lure. Obsessed now with lure fishing. Never used a baitcaster. Should I get one? Maybe a medium to heavy rod + reel? Cheers.

I have a couple of Savage Gear's earlier baitcasting rods in different casting weights. The Butch Lights. Not the XLNT version the older ones with duplon handles. Very nice rods for the price. I pair them with the original Abu Revo STX. Quieter than your reel but it cost a fortune at the time. Nice days fishing by the way!

Class looking reel. What length is the SG4 rod? I am looking at a 130g 7'3" SG4 big bait specialist. Do you think that would be a good length. I don't like a long rod and would be using it on boat and bank.

7.3ft is perfect, especially when fishing from the boat. I much prefer a shorter rod

How well does it compare to the Shimano Curado 150 MGL if you have any experience with that
@castnorthangling59642 жыл бұрын
It's hard to compare any reels to shimano, they are top of the market and have been for a number of years. What I will say that the Savage Gear baitcaster (for a first attempt) is a super reel, great build quality and super smooth. I have enjoyed working with it so far
