Adam you are in my home town. Born and raised there. I really miss it. I remember when part of that highway up to the top was just dirt road. Once you get to the top it's beautiful. Tell Rebekah stay strong in the Army NG. I am still in the NC Army NG on my 15th year. Love her company. Awesome shades. I always wear my ASR shades everywhere I go.

Wow, this brings back some memories. My buddy and I did it on motorcycles back in 1984 when we were transferring duty stations from Florida to San Diego. Much to our horror, we found ourselves riding in snow in the upper parts. Swore I'd never ride a bike in the snow again.... and I haven't. Thanks for sharing Adam. Pike's peak damn. funny the higher you go the fewer gard rails there are... Very cool!!!

Rising in the snow, especially when you don’t expect it can be quite a harrowing experience! 💯

I love the color of that little sporty. Pike'S Peak is like going to Disneyland... Amazing but like you said, the rides too short and too crowded. Lol.
@denweigel4005 жыл бұрын
Adam, completely agree. Ironically I just rode it last Tuesday. Views are amazing. Road good, but a little short and a lot of traffic as well. Early is less busy. Remember there is a shuttle to the top from mile 16 so you can still get that perfect picture or visit the gift shop. Ride on!!!

Adam, I could not agree more with your assessment of the Pike Peak Ride. I have my self have done it twice , and the last time July 5th this year. The parks officials stopped us at mile 16 do to construction at the top of the peak, but we took the shuttle and had the high altitude Donuts. As for your ratings : Living in Colorado Springs your spot on, the ride is short for the peak, the traffic is a Bummer most times but the scenery is Epic . Glad you made it.
@billyholcomb52265 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam . Billy Here. You just touch a bit of a ride. If you had gone west on Hy.i 24 to and through Woodland Park to Cripple Creek it would had been a grate ride. Lots to do and see. Then head off to Canyon City on Phantom Canyon Road . Great ride again I think It would have scored a lot higher. But like you said there is a lot to do around there. The last time I road Pikes Peak it was gravel past Glen Cove. Thanks for sharing .

I agree with your score, Adam. I did Pike's in '17. The only thing that helps is to go super early - before the tourists can wake up their children. Same with Mount Evans, also a great ride only higher, which I enjoyed more, but it's cold at the top! Cheers.

Def agree on the score! Very beautiful ride there! And I know that you scored Hwy12 Utah at a 52 and thats well deserved but when you revisit it and you MUST GO BACK and not in the snow you will really be blown away...Ive seen many roads in the western USA and I have not ridden any that I can say were better than 12 in Utah and IMO going from West to East is the best direction! Especially when going over the pass area down into Capital Reef and the GORGEOUS views there as well as Devils Backbone before the pass area! AND if you run from Torrey, Utah over to Hanksville and ride south to Hite and that area...another GREAT motorcycle road! Be sure to gas up in Hanksville as there is some distance before gas again!

Hi Adam, I’ve been up to Mt. Evans on a bike in 2009 when I was still pretty new to riding. The views are just as awesome, traffic about the same, lots of twisties and hairpins, and they let you know at the gate if it’s safe for bikes - at the time there was water that would flow over some areas which caused an accumulation of gravel. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll hit up Pikes Peak. Thanks for the vid and Rebecca did great!

Adam, if you want an epic ride with curves galore, try Highway 36 from Arcata CA inland to Red Bluff CA. It's got some strange sections, you go from redwoods to canyon carving to twisty back road with no centerline, to sweeping turns and a pass over the coastal mountains... to a rollercoaster at the Red Bluff end, where instead of cut and fill, they just drove a bulldozer and a paver along what might be the craziest route through the hills. Up, down, left, right, keep the speed down and your eyes in front of you. 140 miles of TURNS, man. It doesn't have the views of Pikes Peak, nor the amenities (2 gas stations, so you might need to bring some backup fuel bottles), but if you like twisty bits... it's got those. If you want things a little calmer, so you're not dragging your pegs, Redding to Eureka on Hwy 299 (just to the north). Glad you enjoyed a bit of the state of my birth, dude! :) And Rebekah, thank you, can't emphasize enough how glad we SAR folks were to see an ANG Huey when we needed to airlift someone to St. Vincent's. Y'all rock.
@stepheneckles23454 жыл бұрын
36 is a blast. There is a road up over the mountains I can't remember the number but on the map the area is listed as the Russian Wilderness that's a nice adventure as well

Great video Adam. I was out there in June with the specific goal of taking my Tri-Glide to the top of Pikes Peak. Was very disappointed when we were told we could not go to the top. Very nice ride! I was in Springs last summer and wish I had rode this ride then. Again Adam, I'd like to invite you to come ride the White Mountains of Arizona. I have a couple vets that would be greatly honored to ride with you! I was thinking of riding from St.Johns to Alpine , then to Hannagan Meadows Lodge and to the rim at the Coronado Trail, back to Alpine where we can grab a great lunch at Bear Wallow Cafe, and then across Williams Valley to Big Lake and then through Sheeps Crossing....then to Sunrise Ski park . Depending on how much time is left in the day, I usually like to ride over to Showlow for dinner then back to St. Johns. Definitely an all day ride Lots of forests and lots of animals to see! Beautiful weather, good people....it doesn't get any better than that!

I just got back from over an 8,000 mile riding trip from Toronto, Canada to Tijuana Mexico that included Pikes Peak. It was great, I was able to ride to the summit. As far as Colorado goes I found Mount Evans to be a better ride. It's also higher elevation believe it or not (14,130 ft). I also did the million dollar highway (courtesy of one of your other videos with Ashley and scooter) , peak to peak hwy, and rocky mountain national park! Cheers

@brentbenning59605 жыл бұрын
I just did a loop last weekend. Denver west on 70 through Utah, down 15 to Vegas, rode south to touch Cali then over to Flagstaff. Rode up to 4 corners where you have a few great options to keep heading north and East towards Denver. 1800 miles and only a couple hundred of it was anything less of stellar. If you don’t need to go into Denver hit the Guanella pass jump between highway 285 and I70. Planned 3.5 days but did it in 2.5 because it was so beautiful I couldn’t stop riding. Hope that is helpful.
