For those of you who are confused about the Waterwraith, just keep these seven things in mind. 1. It'll steam around the floor, and will instantly crush and kill any Pikmin in the way, but will also kill enemies and disarm traps, use that to your advantage. 2. It will not go into small corners or crevices, use those as hiding places. 3. The best way to deal with it is to quickly snag all the treasures and leave the sublevel before the five minutes are up and it spawns. Which means DO NOT waste any time, so only focus on the treasures. Ignore the enemies whenever possible and don't bother bringing back their corpses. 4.The Waterwraith is very, very deadly to your Pikmin, so it is important to stay out of its way. If you are careless, you could lose every one of your Pikmin. 5. It'll only follow the active captain, so watch out. However, you can use that to your advantage, it's much like fighting the Ranging Bloyster. 6. There is *ABSOLUTELY NO WAY* to harm it before sublevel 5, so don't bother trying. 7. Move quickly and collect as many treasures as possible. Remember if you forget a treasure, you can always come back for it later.

Dan Fraser Nice tips man! Actually helped me out, especially 5. I didn't know btw that he spawns after 5 minutes i thought it was one of those things where he spawns if you trigger something by for example walk over that place/ kill that enemy/ collect that treassure. I dunno why i'm telling you this, but it's just fun sharing my experience with this dungeon. On the second sublevel (where he first spawns) i was surprised and did really not hurry up and the worst thing was that there were some treasures in really unfortunate places, so i hid like 80 pikmin at a place he couldn't get (right by the hole to the next level) and went in with a squad of 20 pikmin so i first of, wouldnt lose so many pikmin IF i would lose any and second was that i only needed 20 and getting more than 20 with you would mean, a bigger squad,l more space taken by my pikmin -> higher chance of a pikmin getting crushed by the Waterwraith. So i went out with my pikmin with capt. number 1 and tried to get the treasures while the other capt. distracted the Waterwraith by constantly switching between and having my main focus on the capt. distracting him (aka the active player). It took me a long time, but i finally did it and got all of it.

I kinda wish that he grabbed more corpses to increase his numbers. In Pikmin 1, I always brought back most corpses that I killed. Also, I absolutely hated Fire Geysers in the first game. Because they'd stunlock me if I hit one, and then I'd die. And they're undestroyable in that game.

In my last playthrough of pikmin 2 about 2 years ago I managed to beat the submerged castle without seeing the waterwraith once. I was exceptionally tactical for once in my life :)

I actually liked this dungeon, it was challengeing but I love the pure sense of panic the boss instills in me seeing him in the dungeon. Pikmin is one of my favorite games and heck, I restart a dungeon level if I even lose 1 pikmin.

Looking back, I think the submerged castle is actually cool. You need to strategize effectively and efficiently with limited resources and a "time limit" in the form of you know who showing up. A true test of one's skill.

You know, years later after the Waterwraith gave me a permanent phobia of steamrollers as a kid, I realized that part of the reason he was so horrible to me is that the thing pretty much is Slender- an unkillable enemy that can show up at ANY time in ANY place (or so I thought as a kid), and if you don't get away from it INSTANTLY, you're dead.

Just a tip the waterwrieth only appears if you do not leave the floor within 5 minutes best way to give in example for others is like if you do not beat the shadow fight in sa2 within 10 minutes you die or in Pokemon mystery dungeon if you spend longer than 10 minutes on a floor the screen will fade to black you will start over at the last save point and loose half of your money and items.If the treasure is really spaced out keep on resetting until you get a small quick floor layout.

Anyone using this as a guide for pikmin 2 Fair warning. The first sublevel is in fact not safe from the thing emile is talking about. I had it start on the first sublevel and i was completely surprised since i thought it doesnt happen in that floor.

You said don't bother bringing dead enemies to the Ship Pod, but I calculated the Pokos you've collected up to this point. Excluding the enemies, the combined values of the treasures collected so far is 9815 Pokos! Yep, those enemies, though small in value, really adds up!

@marksupersayin101 Actually, that specific sound effect is used alot. They use it lots in animes too, especially Higurashi. It's one of those sounds that's used everywhere, like the sound that plays when a Pokemon comes out of a Pokeball in the Pokemon anime.

I highly recommend actually going into the submerged castle quite soon actually, as long as you have some good gear like the running shoes and stuff like that, in my opinion people say its harder than it really is, you just need o play it safe and you'll be fine, and scout out the entire floor at the beginning. And I highly recommend going to the shower room before hand so you have a better whistle. But the thing you get here is so good it's worth a lot of stuff. Like worth 100 pikmin, it,s epic
