I'd argue the initial very low number of Pikmin available is a fantastic idea :) 1. having limited number of Pikmin as opposed to 100 right away honestly to me feels like a forced excuse to also use Oatchi to help carry and fight stuff while not feeling overpower especially in the first 2 areas. 2. It's an amazing way for self challenges. I adore thes game but did the 20 run only and yeah it was fun :). Now imagine doing a 30 or 60 only run, essentially you can almost a play a super spicy mode by your own volition :) And yeah 100% agree with you on 3 limit type when we had 5 types in 2 and 3. I remember when it was revealed purples, whites, rocks, and wings would return I was so giddy, it was the smash bros moment of "everyone is here!" All the pikmin, and you can only use 3? whats even way more baffling is that if you enter a cave that recommends idks reds, ice, and whites, you enter with rocks, yellows, and reds 100% you'll find wild ice and white flowers AND say you make glow pikmin, you'll be able to manage the 6 types at once no limitations

I find it criminal that there's no talk about the title screen The first one is very meh, serviceable, but when you get to hero's hideaway it becomes the best title screen I've ever seen There's build up for the place, of "I finally got here, where Olimar is", and then even the title screen recognizes this and changes to show you the milestone Additionally, the camera zoom out, the music, the movie itself and logo animation are all synced, so you get this big reveal of a new title screen, once the shock finishes the music starts to play, the logo does it's animation, and the movie continues playing with Pikmin doing stuff Idk how to express it, but y'all know the title screen became god tier after hero's hideaway

To be fair, I never quit the game once I first booted it up and would stop playing by putting the system to sleep. I rarely see the title screen for most Switch games. I only learned there was a new title screen when I replayed the game like a week ago.

It would be interesting to see you make a video about hey pikmin. I think it’s worth giving a shot. It’s very over hated. It’s not the greatest entry in the series or anything but it’s not the pile of garbage a lot of people would make you think it is. It’s a fun game and I think there is a lot of potential in a 2D pikmin game so I really wouldn’t mind if it ever got a sequel. Also hey pikmins final boss is unironically the most badass boss fight and enemy in the entire series

This was an awesome game! I could be wrong on this but I believe the reason you could only have three Pikmin out at a time is kind of a reference to Pikmin 1 where you only had access to reds, blues and yellows.

20:34 ice pikmin do not share the same limitation of not being able to cling to enemies as rock pikmin. They can cling, the only nerf they have is less attack power.

Correction, Farlic just increases the amount of Pikmin you can have on the field, up to 100. Yu need to find their ONION in order to propagate more of a specific type of Pikmin. Also, they locked the old Swarm mechanic from Pikmin 1 and 2 behind an achievement, specifically one that you can't complete without accessing the last cave.

Genuinely I loved Pikmin 4! Tbh I cant really pick a favorite out of all of them since to me they all bring fun and different aspects to make them unique, (Even Hey Pikmin gave the pikmins so much personality) but this one certainly did not disappoint! Although its not a perfect game, I think my biggest gripe with it is the lack of respawning enemies in the overworld.. It makes each area feel incredibly empty and no real reason to revisit them after completing them. Sure one can say its kinda the same in all the other games, but at least I could have some fun attacking enemies and also makes it easier to grind more pikmins than just having to search for pallets which is kinda boring to do when there's literally nothing else in the area.

Honestly I don’t think I like pikmin 4. Which is crazy to say since I love the series. I am a very new pikmin fan. I played all the games for the first time in preparation for 4. I think pikmin 1 and 3 are absolute masterpieces. Pikmin 2 I’m not nearly as big of a fan of and it’s definitely my least favorite in the series. I think hey pikmin is better than it but even so 2 is nowhere near a bad game. When I played pikmin 4 for the first time, it was fun and it’s definitely a good game but something about it never felt right to me and over time I’ve come to realize that I don’t really like it. It retcons the entire series for absolutely no reason, the gameplay is more focused on a dog then the actual pikmin, instead of an actual night mode like everybody wanted we got a protect the tower mini game, caves are back and they’re still not very good and they don’t even have unique bosses at the end of all of them anymore, the game is painfully easy, the characters never shut the fuck up even during gameplay, instead of feeling like you’re exploring a postapocalypse earth it feels like you’re exploring somebody’s house while they’re on vacation, it shoves dandori battles into the main game when it should’ve just been a side mode like in the previous games, many of the pikmin types are barely even used throughout the game which makes me question why they’re even there and there is no day limit so the day night system is completely pointless and all it does is force you to stop playing for a few minutes for no reason. That’s not even all of my complaints though. I still have more but I think you get the point. I keep hearing people say that pikmin 4 is the perfect pikmin game and the best in the entire series, but I don’t understand that at all and I know it’s not nostalgia making me feel this way because I played all of the games for the first time back to back. Pikmin 4 is not a bad game. I definitely had fun playing it, but I feel like it’s missing so much of that pikmin charm and magic is in every other game in the series. I’m sure that makes me sound like a Satanist to some pikmin fans but that’s just how I feel
