I've had my original Metal Box since it was released in 1979. Got it as a requested Xmas pressie! Is still one of my all time favourite albums. I toyed with the idea of settling for the CD release of this re-issue but know it would bug me forever if I didn't go for the vinyl. Subsequently, I've got the vinyl edition on pre-order via Amazon. Current pre-order price is £169 so, not cheap at all. I'll get over shelling out much quicker than I would get over not buying it however. Looking forward to December 16th when I shall take delivery. (I've toyed with the idea of leaving it until Xmas day to open as it would be 37 years to the day since I first got my hands on the original if I do so. I'll never be able to wait 9 days before getting it played though!). Xmas 79 was an amazing Xmas for albums: Metal Box, Machinegun Etiquette, London Calling and Sid Sings (Ok, this last one isn't exactly a great album but, still...). That same year we'd already had Setting Sons, The Raven, The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" (good in bits), Some Product (good fun), Armed Forces, Dirk Wears White Sox, Cut, Y, Entertainment, Join Hands, Second Hand Daylight, Inflammable Material, Fear Of Music, Parallel Lines and the early releases by The Teardrop Explodes, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Monochrome Set, Orange Juice, The Cure, Killing Joke and The Psychedelic Furs amongst others. And they say 1977 was the "golden year" of punk rock and new wave!

My 2016 metal box reissue Tin was damaged at the factory, every replacement they sent was crushed on the corner, the LPs were fine, I ended up with two copies of the metal box reissue.
