Ty so much. This was so helpful as an apprentice instructor still going thru it and just started practice teaching this is so helpful. Especially not needing to do an hour at a time. I started teaching friends who I know will give me feedback and my hour classes are about 1 hr 30 minutes lol I have to work on getting to a 50 minute class 😊Ty Soo much ❤

I really wished I had watched this video before I picked a program. I thought I asked enough questions but there was sooooo much they didn’t tell me about requirements to pass the cert exam and the amount of self teaching I would have to do, lack of support for a place to use equipment to get teaching hours in, the crazy amount of anatomy and postural analysis requirements, and all of the extra fees for books and exam fees

Thanks for your honest and practical tips. I watched a few videos in your Channel. I am having training with a "big" school. Very frustrated. And very disappointed with them. They are so popular in Pilastes industry... Anyway. I wish they told me everything before I enrolled the course. I am afraid I won't do the exam and get the certification from them. Very sad, not because I lost 3k. Because I was their fans before.

Ah, I'm so sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately, it's all too common.

Hi there, I just wanted to share with you that I went through the exact same thing. I'm 2.5 years into "training" (while working a full-time office job) and now sort of concluding that I probably will never test out, and because of many of the reasons Alex mentioned in other videos, I don't even want to any more. Like you I was a fan of the organisation and many of the teachers who represent it publically, but the truth is they just earn lots of money by churning out cohort after cohort - it's not about learning. I still love Pilates, but I'll find other ways for myself to pursue it. And definitely more conversations need to be had around these topics! Best wishes to you!

Actually Pilates is more about bones and how the bones move wither within a joint or in a chain and the sheath covering the nerves and spinal cord

Wonderful information thank you so much! I am considering the comprehensive program at Eqinox. It is going to cost over $10,000 but you can start teaching there and working 300 hours into the program. Would you advise a program like this in order to sort of get your foot in the door at a studio?

I think it's important to know how many hours you can expect to work, what the hourly rate is like and then assess if that makes sense for your personal budget. If you are hoping to pay off your teacher training costs quickly but are only teaching 6 hours a week at $35 an class, that means you would need around a year to pay off the 10k without using your salary for any of your other living or personal expenses. Each studio and brand has their own way of hiring as well, so it's great to know if you need to go through their specific training or if you can look into another school that costs less.

How many hours is the norm or typical in a studio without burning yourself because I am just trying to figure out how many do they expect you teach ? And pay depends on only the hours you teach ? Pay per hour like normal work setting or depends on classes ? Because online salary it says 65000 how is that even possible ? Thanks

Thanks for the information! Please make a video on salary and pay structures because it’s very confusing how it works. Are you paid by how many classes you teach ? So if you get paid around 35 and you are at the studio for maybe 7 hours are you paid 35 for seven hours ? Or you have to teach 7 classes in a day ? 😳 please help me understand it clearly thanks!

@@alpsmovement Great Info, Thank you. Can you suggest programs that are more on the experiential side of teaching in NYC?
@alpsmovement4 жыл бұрын
@@georginabillingtonmakeupar3164 I don't know of any specific programs, but I would recommend reaching out to people like Jared Kaplan at Studio 26 to explore local options. Jared is also working to encourage a healthy conversation about Pilates professionals' business practices and I imagine would have input.
