WE KICK OFF THE DAY AND HEAD NORTHWEST 20KM FROM KARRATHA.
TO THE COASTLY TOWN OF DAMPIER, IT IS HERE THAT WE EXPERIANCE ALL THAT THE TOWN HAS TO OFFER.
FROM THE FAMOUS PILBARA WANDERER - RED DOG.
IT IS A SELF QUIDED TOUR WHICH YOU CAN WALK OR DRIVE.
THE TRAIL ALLOWS YOU TO SEE THE ADVANTAGE POINTS AROUND DAMPIER.
YOU START AT THE LOOKOUT THAT LOOKS OVER THE HARBOUR WHERE YOU CAN SEE EAST INTERCOURSE ISLAND.
THIS IS WHRE DAMPIER SALT AND RIO TINTO EXPORT THE SALT AND IRON ORE FROM.
THERE IS PLENTY OF INFORMATION UP HERE TO READ.

AS YOU DRIVE DOWN THE HILL TOWARDS THE OVAL AT HAMPTON HARBOUR, THERE IS AN AMAZING PLAYGROUND FOR FAMILY'S WITH GREEN GRASS, PALM TREES AND FREE BBQ'S ALL OVERLOOKING THE HARBOUR.
WE CONTINUE ALONG ON THE RED DOG TRAIL TO OUR NEXT SPOT, THE FORESHORE BEACH, WHERE THERE USED TO BE A SHARK CAGE TO PROTECT THE SWIMMERS.
I TALK ABOUT THE HOW I USED TO WORK AS A STEVEDORE, THE MASSIVE SIZE OF THESE SHIPS THAT COME IN TO DROP OFF CARGO AND TAKE AWAY SCRAP METAL WILL BLOW YOUR MIND.
THERE IS A TRANSIT CARAVAN PARK IN DAMPIER IT IS A 72HR STAY RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE HARBOUR.
WE DRIVE AROUND A BIT MORE TO THE VIEWING PLATFORM FOR THE TRAINS THAT COME IN FROM ALL OVER THE PILBARA WHICH BRINGS IN THE IRON ORE.
MAN, THIS IS IMPRESSIVE THEY ARE SO MASSIVE.
AFTER THIS WE BACK TRACK TO THE COURSEWAY THAT LINKS KARRATHA TO DAMPIER RIGHT OPPOSITE THE AIRPORT FOR THE REGION.
HERE WE WALK UP THE STEPS TO THE VEIWING PLATFORM FOR DAMPIER SALT.

AFTER THIS WE MOVE ONTO THE BURRUP AND THE MASSIVE GAS PLANT AND ITS TOWERS THAT HOLD THE FLAMES THAT YOU CAN SEE FROM KARRATHA AND RIGHT OUT TO SEA OFF DAMPIER.
THEY HAVE A HEAP OF ROAD WORKS GOING ON AROUND THE BURRUP.
THEY ARE ALSO BUILDING A NEW GAS TRAIN - PLUTO 2.
FROM HERE WE MAKE OUR WAY TO HEARSON'S COVE BUT BEFORE WE GET THERE, WE STOP OFF AT MURUJUGA NATIONAL PARK WE TAKE OUR TIME TO WALK BACK THROUGH TIME AND VIEW ALL THE ANCIENT ROCK CARVINGS THAT IS 40,000 YEARS OLD.
THIS IS A VERY EASY WALK AND CAN BE DO IF YOU ARE IN A WHEELCHAIR TOO.
TAKE YOUR TIME TO LOOK FOR THE ART ON THE ROCKS.
THERE IS A TON OF INFO ON THE SIGNS AS YOU WALK ALONG THE PATH.
TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THEM.
AFTER HERE IT IS JUST A SHORT 2KM DRIVE TO HEARSON'S COVE.
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SPOT, YOU CAN SEE THE STAIRWAY TO THE MOON FROM THIS LOCATION AND IT IS WELL WORTH IT !
WE PULL UP RIGHT NEXT NEXT TO THE SHADE HUT THERE IS FREE BBQ'S AND ALSO PICNIC TABLES .
THERE ARE QUIET A FEW OF THESE SPREADS OUT ALOND THE BEACH, THERE ARE ALSO TOILETS HERE TOO.
TAKE YOUR TIME TO DRIVE AROUND THE THE EDGE TO SEE THE MASSIVE ROCK PILES THAT ARE NATURAL NOT PUT THERE IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND.
YOU WOULD THINK THEY WERE PLACED THERE - BUT THEY AREN'T!
WE HAVE A COOK UP AND WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO TURN UP FOR A MEET AND GREET
WELL, THE MEET AND GREET WAS GREAT THE FILMING STOPPED AND WE HAD GREAT CHATS WITH ALL THE PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE EFFORT TO COME AND MEET US.

SO, IT GOT DARK SO WE HEADED BACK TO THE VAN.
THE NEXT DAY WE DROVE BACK TO HEARSON'S COVE TO FINISH OFF OUR EPISODE.
I GOT THE DRONE OUT, WE HAD A FEW MORE BEERS AND NIK CAUGHT CRABS. LOL
SO - JUST SAYING - KARRATHA ISN'T JUST A TOWN TO STOP AT TO GET YOUR FIX OF KFC AND TOP UP YOUR WATER AND GROCERIES.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING WE LOVE IT HERE!
