I just love the Pilbara. I think anyone who has spent any time there will be able to feel the aeons of time that the place has existed. The Kimberley may be more spectacular but the Pilbara is my spirit land. Every time I go up there I can feel it speaking to my soul. Great video.

Man you boys know how to put a vid together!!! Bringing the great pilbara into our living rooms, studies, nooks and the shitter. Sad to see the lack of bush chooks though...
@Alex.G5 жыл бұрын
I think the reason you didn't see the chook is just because I'd drank most of the slab already 😂

To be honest, i'm pretty lazy GPS all the way with offline mapping. As most of us carry at least 2 devices if not 3, i feel its a safe option and easiest to use.

Thanks. Some beaut drone vision. BTW re construction there's PC & LT tyres, and re tread there's HT, AT & MT. With airing down and care PC will cope with everything except XC desert with its risk of staking.

From 32:00 absolute stunning photography. Wow! We live in a beautiful country. When going for a walk, take a backpack, shove some water in there. Take a real compass too ($4 for a simple unit on ebay and the compass I have is good for 2 deg.). Phones are fun, but rely on batts. My policy with water is 1/3rd out for 2/3rds back. Definite, you'll be thirstier back than out. Jack Absalom was a good man. He even published a bush cook-book which is a nice one. 'Outback Cooking in the Camp Oven', got one here. Lake Frome Kangaroo Braise is one on page 46, very tasty. Pub. in 1982 and sev. times after that. Out of print now I suppose. I always carry 2 or 3 cast camp ovens. Cook anything in them according to Jack and he does.
@Alex.G5 жыл бұрын
That's right! I seem to recall him saying he used to be a cook on some remote stations around the place?
@gortnewton47655 жыл бұрын
@@Alex.G I recall that too and I have the feeling he started as a baker or his dad did. On one of his TV programs he demonstrated how to start and run an ignition-coil basic car (no computers) with no 12 Volt car battery. He used a few torch batteries (C-cells, of course each 1.5 volts, applied to the coil) and jacked up the left-hand back wheel, put the car into gear (manual only for this) and rotated the wheel with the ignition on. Engine started. You should have seen the huge grin he had on his face! He was a great man. Do you know if he is still going? I hope so. A bit of a dream might be to see you interview him if he's on your side of the country. Love your program. The photography is superb.

@@Alex.G Well here he is!! I am so surprised. A superb artist now. www.jackabsalom.com.au/index.htm By the way, your images are so good, you might think of printing and publishing them as prints. And few Australians see what you see. Think of how beautiful and powerful it is, the things you see.

I also have a 3ltr patrol and I've never had mine make any kind of turbo flutter at all unlike like yours seems to, especially at 29:10 Is your patrol running all standard parts besides the exhaust?
@Alex.G5 жыл бұрын
Thats interesting....It is all standard except for the exhaust, and DAWS valve anti grenade kit. I suppose the anti grenade setup MIGHT have something to do with it? But really, it didn't make that fluttering sound until the snorkel went on.
@TJJIM5 жыл бұрын
@@Alex.G yeah that is strange. Mine also has the nads kit running 18psi, factory snorkel and exhaust and a cheap Ebay intercooler and a k&n filter. Maybe it's to do with the free flowing exhaust? Either way thanks for the reply

Is that a CU in the NT sticker you're hiding???
@Alex.G5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha yep. Too many issues raised with it. Especially since the "in the" isn't really visible from the camera 🤣

It's a piss take northern territory tourism sticker. CU in the NT. But on the camera, you can't quite make out the 'in the' part so it just looks like a rude sticker 😂

Interesting trip but the audio in the truck is terrible. You need to stop the motor or get better noise cancelling microphones, or something, really distracts from what is otherwise a well done video and interesting trip.
@Alex.G5 жыл бұрын
Yup, you're damn right! Unfortunately there's a bit more similar audio to come for the rest of this series. I was incredibly poor at this moment in life 😄 I've since improved the mic situation.
