Time to try out my newest circuit board holder by building a couple of simple kits.
Just for fun, I did 2 edits of this video.
This is the longer one.
The short one (19 min) is here: • The best PCB holder so...
It has much of the soldering action at accelerated speed for the impatient viewer.

This isn't the only way to do it.
It's probably not the best way to do it.
But it's how I do it.

i have the same holder! i was surprised at how well it's actually made, the base/leg screws have a lil plug inside to not dig into the cross beam while tightening. and all the adjustment screws have a metal nut under the plastic so it won't strip out easy

Thanks for an interesting video! I like that tip shape as well, especially for through-hole work. I also use the "old-fashion" wet sponge tip cleaner - just a quick swipe between components and also have the metal type for end of the day cleaning.

The solder tip with the angled cut, is called a hoof tip. The pointed one is conical

Leaving the soldering in is fine - it gives us a chance to judge you :)

Time to take your newly built kits out into the field. That's right ... a trip to the beach!! For science!

You can never get enough helping hands...The rogue metal objects (gold, etc) agitates the magnetic field oscillation created by the inductors. Each alloy will offset this field in varying amounts rated in cycles of return, much like a radar.

Would love to hear your opinions on some ciders. My electronics projects tend to be powered by JD, from TN. If you can get ahold of d's Wicked Cider, it is top notch. And I think it was Julian who mentioned the ground plane. Cheers 🍻

I have mounted mine on an old monitor arm so it's off the bench and on mini drawer rails with fans and lighting. Still trying to find an elegant way to incorporate a component holding pad. I also have a USB microscope to fit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZKqdWOiZaaLnq8

LOL - how on earth is that PCB Holder possibly making things easier or faster? It just gets in the way, makes things much slower to place the components (compared to holding the PCB in your hands) as well as more difficult to solder because you cannot rotate the board to achieve the optimum angle. And it takes up so much area on a limited workspace - almost taking over the critical beer position. LOL

I find that having my hands freed up really helps. Plus bringing the work up closer to my ageing eyes is also helpful. But everyone has their preferences. Thats why there are so many options!
