Thanks. In general the answer is yes, we can make heated insulating glass units with self-cleaning coating, but of course it depends also on all other requirements.

They have 1001 reasons to say about self cleaning technology, how about the 1001 reasons they did not think about? Cause at the end of the day sooner or later you will have to reset all those pans by properly clean them with brush, water and squeegee, right? So, where is it say how we should clean them and what should we avoid to do when we have to do so? Always sits a the cashier to collect when they bring new stuff in the market.

Hi Nick, I think I’ve understood your question correctly! Essentially the Pilkington Activ™ coating is activated by UV light, organic dirt is broken down and the rain washes the dirt away - easy :) . The other benefit is that the coating will not be worn away or rubbed off under normal conditions and lasts the lifetime of the glazing itself! For glazing in areas that have dryer temperature spells glass can be easily cleaned by hosing down or wiping with a soft cloth and warm soapy water - no need for harsh detergents or scrubbing! i have had activ blue installed on my conservatory roof for the last 10yrs, and only had to clean the bird muck off about 5 times, how many times would i have had to clean standard glass ?
