What a great lesson! I believe the church at large should be teaching on this more. I think there is a lot of opportunity for that actually. I find this to be very helpful. Thank you Preston

Our God is all sufficient, and that's His nature because He is God. God wasn't made for us, but we for Him: - For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and FOR HIM (Col 1:16). You ask people to focus on themselves, which is what the world already teaches. But we are to focus on Him, and learn to get lost in His beauty and majesty. We are no longer ours, but His. He who is found in the Father is blessed, there's nothing to find in ourselves because we're broken vessels: - I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me (Gal 2:20). - And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me (Lk. 9:23). If a man crumbles, it is because of his lack of faith in the Father. But he who seeks the kingdom first and His righteousness will have his needs met (Matt. 6:33). If this world takes everything from us and all we're left with is Jesus, we are blessed. Take the story of Job as an example. All he had was taken from him, but he remained faithful to the Father, knowing that He is good, and that things happen for a reason, even though he did not understand it. I leave you with this: 1) Getting is not always from God - “All this I will give you,” he said (the devil), “if you will bow down and worship me.” (Matt 4:9) ; and 2) Things removed is not always from the devil - "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances" (Phil 4:11) Do not bow down and worship idols, little children, but turn and worship the One and Only True God.

He didn’t create us to be needy. It is because of our selfish, narcissistic nature (because of sin) that we are that way. That is why we are to die to our flesh daily. God is not God to serve us. WE ARE TO SERVE HIM! What we need is to be content, like His word repeatedly says. We need to focus on aligning our desires to match His and he’ll fulfill the desires of our hearts. With this 6 pillar formula, non of the apostles would have fit in this sermon. Ahh this makes my heart sad 😔
