Hi Mark, thank you for all of the video work that you provide for YT viewers. I have the 3.5 L bag & I find like you, this bag is quite useful for carrying small prime lenses & a small camera body. I do not use the included insert divider with this bag. Similarly, as you demonstrate in the video, I find I can carry more compact lenses in this bag by using lens pouches as opposed to using the insert. I have a Wontancraft Ryker, Trooper, Pilot (10L) & the new 18L backpack. All of their products are well designed, using quality materials & offer good value for their price points. Best wishes.😊

Like you, I prefer shoulder bags to backpacks. And I currently use the 10L and 7L Wotancraft Pilot messenger bags. Since I'm always looking for ways to downsize my kit these days, I'll be very interested in hearing how you get along with your downsized kit on your trip to India. Hope it's a great trip.

I have just reviewed the Lightning Rider 12L which I now intend to carry as my second (non-photographic) bag. Alternatives to the Pilot 3.5L also include Wotancraft's latest version of their waist pack. In the USA I used this to carry a Sony FX30 mounted to a hand-held bluetooth grip.

Would be great to see how you organise your bag like a view from the top. For a 1 lens setup with an a7r5 + 1 prime or 20-70f4 do you think the 2P would be enough or the 3.5L would be a better fit. Also any idea if the R5 + tamron 28-200 would fit in the 3.5L. Thanks for your help.

Mark, another fantastic review! Thank you. Two questions: 1. Can the Peak Design capture clip be used on the 3.5L? 2. Can the zipper pouch external module be used on the 3.5 liters
@AlphaCreativeSkills8 ай бұрын
The Capture Clip can be added to the Shoulder Strap of these bags. Attachment points for the clip-on external modules are available on the sides of the 3.5 and 2L bags (the same type of attachment points that appear on the front of the 7 and 10L bags).

Hi Mark, I have the same setup 7L and 10L Pilot and ordered the 3,5L. However I have a question, how do you fit all your other belongings in the 10L Pilot. Assuming you take a laptop, some backup SSD and clothing. If I go on a 3 week motorbike trip my shoes and a pair of jeans fill up half of the bag. How do you manage to pack for a month trip to India?

Is there any padding in that top lid? I'm thinking of putting one of the with camera and lens into another carryon bag, and was wondering if it would be padded on all sides.
@AlphaCreativeSkills Жыл бұрын
The top flap has no padding but this doesn't stop me from packing two Pilot bags into one carry-on as I never pack top-to-top - so the base padding is always enough to prevent contact damage.

Hi Mark. I was wondering about your thoughts on storing & carrying the following camera body and four prime lenses using Wotancraft's 3.5 L sling bag. 1x Fujifilm X-T5 1x XF 18 mm F1.4 lens 1x XF 23 mm F1.4 lens (type 2) 1x XF 33 mm F1.4 lens 1x XF 56 mm F1.2 lens (type 2) Regarding the hobbit travel pouches. Would either the xs or s sized versions of these hobbit travel pouches fit these lenses individually? Look forward to your comments soon. All the best. 🙂
@AlphaCreativeSkills Жыл бұрын
I am not familiar with the size of the Fuji lenses you have mentioned. I am currently working with a camera and three lenses in this bag (not four). One lens is mounted on the camera and one sits above another lens on the other side of the divider I think three compact lenses in hobbit cases may be a little tall for a 3.5L. You could compare the size of the Fuji lenses with Sony lenses I list in the video or stack the three lenses and measure the height. The 3.5L is the same height as the 7L so if this height is insufficient you may need to go wider to accomodate more than three lenses.

Mark, I take it you will be drinking spirits for the month you will be in India? As a matter of interest, are you able to get all that camera gear, in the larger case on the plane as carry-on luggage? Would hate to think of the replacement cost if baggage handlers were to drop the larger of the bags and a mega $ value of bodies and crown jewel lens. Do you ever, when going overseas, eg for your recent Harley trip, consider the industrial strength type Pelican cases. They would appear to afford the degree of protection required if you were taking a lot of gear and could not it all onboard as passenger luggage. The downside, of course, is that the appearance would attract thieves.
@AlphaCreativeSkills2 жыл бұрын
I try to avoid checking camera bags (even pelican cases) whenever possible. My recent trip the Nevada and California I checked zero bags. I just carried on the Pilot 7L and 10L
