I found a champagne pink dr.grip .5 mechanical pencil at staples as well as a silver one. They were hidden in the clearance section and were on sale for 3 dollars. I purchased the pink one. I personally think it was a great deal.

Just subscribed to your channel a couple days ago. I had been wondering if you had an opinion on my one-and-only fancy pencil (Dr. Grip), so what a pleasant surprise it was to see this upload! I bought my first one in late 2009 / early 2010, temporarily lost it shortly after buying it, bought another, and used them both till 2014 when I was done in university. Mine are metallic blue- and grey-coated plastic with metal clips. They've lasted me just fine, and I appreciate size of the grip. I'd like to think they've helped prevent sore hands and wrists compared to other, slimmer pencils, but I never took the time to do any side-by-side comparisons. Who honestly has time when they're frantically finishing homework and writing notes with it? The lint issue with the grip never bothered me. I just dealt with any minor debris. That said, they did live their lives in binders for the most part. Thanks having such an interesting channel!

HEY!! My favorite mechanical pencil gets a Clutch Situation review - yeah!! I don't like the shaker feature myself. It throws off my balance. I remove that shaker and use them without it! Thanks for the review!!

I wish you would go over how to replace the eraser/lead.

I tweaked the shaking mechanism of my Dr. Grip so that it is a lot more silent now.

Another great review! I bought a dr. grip pen and pencil at staples awhile ago. Thought it would be cool but not impressed. I threw it in my collection an moved on. Lately I've be using the Rotring 300 and 500. Both around 10$ and both pretty decent. Their my "flavor of the month" anyway. I'm waiting for my s20 to arrive in mail.

Do some pencils retract the point, so the lead doesn't get on your shirt/clothes?

This is approved for people with arthritis. Thin, hard pencils are painful. This is comfortable.

May I add a suggestion? When doing the click advance, would it help to show inconsistencies or consistencies if you advance the lead with the lead facing the ground then the air?
@bballwatcher22247 жыл бұрын
Source, cheap Bic pencil advancing with lead facing the bottom at 14 mm (0.5 mm lead) while advancing 10 mm (0.5 mm lead) with lead facing the top.

All knock systems are gravity feed. You will never get as effective (or any) advance when holding a pencil horizontal or with the tip facing up.

The grip is a little too big for me but I see Japanese people who have really thick middle fingers because they study so much so I guess it's made for a specific type of people.

At least does anyone know if the lead hardness indicator is printed or stickered on?

Benjamin Huang I think there is a review on his site.
@bballwatcher22247 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Huang And I assume stickered.

i think a video review would be more informative though

Benjamin, seriously man, if you keep bothering me about it, I get less and less likely to want to do it. I have an established order of reviews that I have mapped out months in advance. Please try to exercise some patience.

a "non genuine" dr. grip? I like your videos, you do an excellent job, but I highly doubt there's anyone on amazon fabricating fake dr. grips. that would be like counterfeiting a 5 dollar bill. I think amazon is safe.
@ClutchSituation7 жыл бұрын
It really isn't Jason. Popular items, no matter how cheap, get counterfeits. A good example from EDC Jesse's Channel is the Casio F-91W watch. You can get a genuine one for 7 USD or a fake one for 3-4 USD. It is all about margins. Amazon has a long history of inadvertently selling counterfeits, even through their own products and Amazon Prime.

Clutch Situation that's pretty wild. I mean, I understand it's about margin. (every business is) but I'm having a little trouble wrapping my head around the economics of counterfeiting an item that's going to sell for $5-$6. seems you would need to sell thousands to pinch a tiny profit. this particular product just doesn't seem counterfeit worthy. I would be absolutely floored if a fake version even exists
