So many other videos = talk, talk, etc and one is still left uncertain. This video is silent and tells by showing so much more and is very helpful. Thank you. The best. Now I know for certain which Falcon pen I shall be adding to my FA.

@@MarcoChiari thanks. Having a highly customized Pilot Heritage 912 FA nib I've gone with the Pilot Falcon SF which from the demo appears less radical a flex from my custom (which I love) and suited to on location work; a bit more robust yet still flexy. :)

Do you recommend the pen falcon medium? I don't see a lot of videos about that nib size. Is it because the Extra fine and fine are better?
@Cortesevasive4 жыл бұрын
more visible lane variation probably, sef is the most unique imo
@jp25032 жыл бұрын
The SM has almost no variation whatsoever and isn't quite soft enough, it always feels like it's pushing back where the nib angle bends.

It looks like the Pilot SEF would work well for copperplate calligraphy with maybe Walnut ink?
@MarcoChiari2 жыл бұрын
the Pilot SEF is the fountain pen that, together with a few others, is closest to the copperplate style, but remains distant from the quality of the intinction calligraphic nibs. I have never tried it with an iron gall ink :-)
@LuvsSno2 жыл бұрын
@@MarcoChiari isn't certain types of iron gall ink the kind that can damage nibs?
@carlotassi27475 жыл бұрын
Ma è possibile cambiare il pennino? Io ho una SEF e vorrei provare a prendere un pennino SF per cambiarlo....
@MarcoChiari5 жыл бұрын
il costo del ricambio ha quasi il prezzo della penna intera, tantovale comprare una nuova stilgorafica con pennino diverso...

You dip the pen into ink at 14:00 makes me thumbs down this video. By dipping the pen you've totally misconstrued how well the pen would write on a daily basis. Unfortunately, these pens have a reputation of having feeds that can't keep up with the nib. Anyone can dip a pen and make it write but can the pen write like that consistently being fed by the ink inside? How about making a video showing that for us that illustrates how they perform in the way they were intended, without dipping. Otherwise, this is a pointless video as no one uses them this way...

Ti ringrazio per seguire il canale - ciao Marco Your observation is correct. Before making a review on a fountain pen, use it with cartridges, converters, or otherwise loaded with ink. I try at least 6 inks that are the ones I know well and I need a reference. Unfortunately for technical spells I can not do the shooting in pieces for each pen, ... and so in the video I show only the part to initiation to give an idea of how they write, commenting on the long-term ltest I've done previously . Thank you for following the channel - hello Marco

Marco Chiari If you use them, then show us how their feeds compare. That would be more accurate and useful because no one I know dips their fountain pens to write...

The only issue here is that none of these nibs are intended to be used as flex nibs…right? Long term or perhaps even medium term use as such has been reported by many to damage the nibs, first come the micro cracks then the nib is “sprung”. Also note that the 742 FA nib has numerous reports of slow feeding resulting in slow starts and/or railroading so a wet ink like Iroshizuku is recommended…when you don’t “cheat” by using it like a dip pen. The 743 FA nib is larger than that used in the 742 FA and fairs better re feed. This vid doesn’t show how any of these excellent pens fair when using the on board ink supply and feed. Aside from my caveat emptor comments I applaud this vid…quite the excellent job.
@MarcoChiari3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I agree, this video is set up for a cross-sectional comparison of some Pilot nibs used as initially stated by intuition. I am well aware that the size of the 742 nib is different from the 743 and 74 series. In the channel you can find the tests of these pens without "deception" as you say. I will shortly publish the WA MS PO SU nib tests. Thanks for the passage on the canal - Ciao Marco
