Pilot flies her 1st SOLO XC as a Private (watch me fly/listen to me yap 😆💕✈️👩🏼‍✈️)

Although I had a lot of solo time, I always took a passenger with me XC. It was bothering me because I know I needed XC solo time but I hated the idea of being bored and lonely. Finally I couldn’t stand myself anymore and finally went solo XC, and I’m so happy!! It was definitely boring and lonely but it was great!!! There is nothing like flying solo and solo XC is an extra joy unlike any other. Gonna slow the flying down this month as I buckle down for the instrument written and then really go into instrument training full throttle. I’ll still be making videos tho so stay tuned !!

Congrats on your untethered solo cross country! I love XC flying - probably more than any other part of flying. It makes the world a little bit smaller. And that makes it easier to visit places that I might not if I had to drive. LOL: Sometimes S* is F*

Oh wow, super cool that the algorithm brought me here! I am at almost exactly the same spot on the other side of the country. Finally got my PPL in March, did my first solo XC two weeks ago, editing a video from the flight for later this week. Almost the same age too! Congrats on all the accomplishments, if your journey is anything like mine I'm sure you worked hard to get here. Appreciate the candid introspections!

I also had a mag drop that was acceptable but near the limit in the run-up. I went ahead and ran the RPM to 2300 and learned it out. I then set a timer for 1 min. Then I performed another Mag check and it was better.

I am a student pilot and my CFI and I was flying a cross country. After shutting down at the airport we got back into fly back. The CFI said, let's skip the run-up. I flew this plane twice before this and it's working fine. I said to him that I was doing a run-up. In the past I had a Magneto go bad during my take-off roll. Engine gauges in the green speed is alive, then then I heard the engine complain ( slight RPM loss sound) and saw the tac go down a bit. I instantly did not rotate, took out the throttle and started to break hard before I could get my mouth to say abort. At the same time the CFI was taking over my controls. After getting off the runway the CFI stated "let's test this and see if we can fly " I said. I am not taking this plane up until a mechanic looks at it.

I like the bottle of ice in a plastic bag. I Will try this. This is a great tip. Also, I never like to do pattern work in the hottest part of the day. If I do, I only last for 3 laps in the pattern and I am finished.

Perhaps one reason I tend to use VORs for some waypoints along the way, just in case. lol

Even with the Garmin, not necessarily bad to have some VORs as waypoints and their frequencies in case other instruments fail, or you by chance find yourself in an area being GPS spoofed by assholes, since that's becoming a potential problem for aviators.
