My 19 year old son is three weeks away from his FAA oral exam and check ride for his private pilot license. He’s stressing himself out, causing self doubt and thinking he won’t be ready. Any suggestions on how to better prepare for this phase? Thanks in advance!

Hi, hope I’m not responding too late. I’m also 19 and just recently passed my final oral exam and check ride! Needless to say, it went really well. I don’t know where your son is training, but I did my training at a University. Each flight school is slightly different in terms of how they teach, but when it comes to stage checks, it’s all pretty much the same. A good reference is the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) there’s an online PDF and it’s free, and you can look under the “Private Pilot” section. This will list off basically everything that you’ll need to know for the stage check. Something that helps is doing a mock oral, you can sit down with your son and pretend to be the examiner asking him questions from the ACS to test his knowledge. In my personal experience, the final stage check was very over-hyped. Definitely still study hard for it, but if you’re dedicated to it and study really hard, you’ll do perfect. My stage flight was almost flawless. I hope I helped you out a bit, and feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions!

Just discovered your channel though the algorithm, I'm a nervous flyer so it is always nice and useful to learn more about flying and pilots! Your channel is underrated, you deserve way more subscribers. I commented at 16.5K subscribers, next comment when you reach 250K 😂👍👍

Sehr geiler Content. Du warst doch sicher bei der EFA wenn du Da42 geflogen bist. Ich und einpaar Freunde fänden es mega wenn du mal ein Video zum Assessment machen könntest und zur Vorbereitung dafür. Danke

Being scared? How about going to the simulator in real life with a thunderstorms outside did do your sim check coming in on one engine 200 feet and the cockpit goes dark (loss of power due to lightning strike real) then Sim crashes down on Jack's. Just for a moment you would thing?

Did you ever crater a landing?
