Definitely inspired by “High Rollers” which is based on a game in the public domain called “Shut the Box.” Because there is no reward for removing number as with “High Rollers” players can only lose when one takes control of the randomizer. The game could be sped along by eliminating the first question of a new game and having the host take the first spin (spinning again if the result is clover). Drinking game: Take a drink every time the host says, “I must warn you.”

Fascinating! This is very likely a Dan Enright production, which would explain the Screen Gems credit and Jokers Wild music (Dan worked at Screen Gems in Canada post-quiz show scandals). Also, the electronic dice idea-and even some of the questions!!-were used in this Barry-Enright pilot, called We’ve Got Your Number: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYWncmV-i6d4rJosi=AR37Fe6B2P_AOu0n

It had to be before May 1974 when Screen Gems became Columbia Pictures TV (which was used until 1996, when it became Columbia/TriStar TV and then became the current Sony Pictures TV in 2002).

An alternative version of "The Savers" by the late, great Alan Thicke? Nice! (Another version would ultimately become the theme for "The Joker's Wild)
@thetalkingarchive47953 ай бұрын
Actually, 'The Savers' was by Perrey & Kingsley, who also composed "Baroque Hoedown," which is the theme to Disneyland and Disney World's Main Street Electrical Parade. Two years after Joker's CBS debut, Alan Thicke's composition "Joker's Jive" (which sounded similar) became the new theme song and lasted until its cancelation in June 1975. When Joker returned to production for syndication in 1977, "The Savers" was the opening theme. "Joker's Jive" was the closing theme. Fall 1978, Hal Hidey recorded the whistling version of "The Savers," which remained the theme until its cancelation in 1986. Thicke also composed the theme to the 1975 Jack Barry Production 'Black Check,' which sounds a lot like "Chump Change" by Quincy Jones.

** *_Probably the best clickbait title I've ever seen for a game show upload._* ** This game show uses _A VARIATION_ of the original _Joker's Wild_ theme song, "The Savers", yes. However, this rendition/recording was NOT used on either of the U.S. iterations of _The Joker's Wild._

I knew it was produced by enright the minute the announcer said its a game of knowledge and luck and hearing the jokers wild theme
@DLCOrganization2 ай бұрын
Where did you see Dan Enright's name mentioned on or featured in connection with this show?
@HectorHustles2 ай бұрын
@@DLCOrganization I remember watching a documentary where enright was in Canada teaching them on how to produce game shows because he was blacklisted in the states because of the quiz show scandal. This show also is using the music of the jokers wild along with the catchphrases from the jokers wild in the intro also the host is wearing clothes that jack berry would wear. I know his name is not in the credits, but a lot of material from the show would make you think that Dan Enright had a part of it otherwise the whole production would’ve gotten sued for using the music of another game show

@@HectorHustles -- Well, here's the catch to that -- The words "knowledge" and "luck" are found in the opening catchphrases of the two quintessential Barry & Enright shows. However, the opening line on the "Numbers Game" is NOT THE SAME as the opening line from _"The Joker's Wild"_ -- "The game show where knowledge is king and Lady Luck is queen!".

@@Tubewings From what I remember, the SG logo wasn't changed until the fall of 1974, when it was replaced with the CP logo but kept the eerie SG music. The CPT sunburst logo and space-age music did not debut until a year later, in 1975. So, it could have been up until the fall of 1974, when the SG logo was still credited at the end.
