The Super Cobra is gone from the Marine Corps. It's been replaced by the Viper. While the Huey was replaced by the Venom. Both are the 4 blade equivalents or their predecessors. It's still common to call them the Cobra and Huey though.

One again did you ever deliver! I know several people who have had their lives saved by the Apache. The boost it gives to morale just from knowing it's there is immeasurable. Several things, aren't the bends in the tips of the blades to cut down on rotor chop to keep the noise down? The Longbow variant was also the first time I heard about crew information over load from all the systems, was something done to mitigate this? I am glad to hear about the added safety in seat and cockpit design for the crew. I have seen first hand the back and leg injuries from the crashes of earlier helicopters, low altitude and low speed. The Guardian variant will be the Apache's future, drones are here to stay and any component that adds range and diminishes your own detection is a game changer. Cheers on a brilliant video and cheers to your father.

Great brief Tog. Incredible details on features and characteristics. I predict the Apache will be in service longer than its forefather, the Cobra/Viper AH1 family, now 50+ years active duty.
@cattledog9012 жыл бұрын
The Apache will 100% be relevant in the future, especially with the possibility of upgrading the longbow radar to AESA and the integration of NLOS missles like Spike. The combination will mean the Apache can detect and attack targets out to 20 miles or more while remaining hidden behind cover.

Great video, you should make one on the AH-1Z. I'm curious why the designers didn't use a 30mm gun designed to fire the same tank busting armour piercing rounds the A10 uses.
@kqckeforyou44332 жыл бұрын
Because of the recoil. That's why the Fara programm will also use a 20mm if it is the 102mm or 139mm but a 30x173mm is why to big of an recoil and even the 30x113mm which is now used with the m230 chain gun has a very strong recoil which the heli can handle just so but it can't handle anymore
@bluemarlin8138 Жыл бұрын
30mm rounds might go through the rear of an older tank, or the roof if fired at a near 90° angle, but otherwise they’d just be good for busting up the sights and external gear, or maybe setting off some ERA panels. But you can do that with a 20-25mm. Also, the gun on the Apache has a much shorter barrel, so you can’t get the same muzzle velocity that you can on an A-10 anyway.
@mrp8488 Жыл бұрын
The AH-64 uses a 30mm round, just not as big as the A-10.
