Dude I just came across your Channel and have been absolutely digging it hard. You’re doing really good work. The show stuff is hard to do. Can’t believe you were able to work a booth and then go walk around the show to give us such a great view for those that couldn’t make it.…

Thanks for the tour! I have been crazy about helicopters since i was a teenager and am finally going through the process of getting my PPL - about to go solo. I'm training on the R22, but absolutely love everything about the G2, probably because I am a big fan of Airbus (formerly Eurocopter) machines...and have been wondering, when will Guimbal bring out a 4 seat piston, or a 5 seat turbine and also, what are the possibilities of a diesel powerplant using Jet A1?

Thank you so much for sharing that with us, I am part of those who could not attend the show but was super exited about the video. Just one comment however, the H160 is not fly by wire. (Only the landing gears are as far as I know, but not the flight controls for sure)

The fist Robinson panel you looked at had a GTN650 - the second had a GTN750. The PFD is the new TXi display. It's a pity you skipped past Hughes and Enstrom!

I wonder how many a) people have or are planning to enroll in helicopter lessons because of this channel, and b) how many Cabris are going sell because of the awareness you’re creating. Glad you’re in a relationship with them.

A significant number, I think. If potential consumers are moved to purchase goods and services and the content is compelling and filmed with technical competence, like it is here, the channel should be lucrative for the producer as well. The information in this channel is disseminated generously and accurately. Also, the costs of training are revealed transparently. Any potential student has to carefully consider seriously BC Helicopters for training. If you learn in the mountains and weather conditions of British Columbia you’ll have to be well-prepared for less challenging environments. This business will probably grow to include turbine training in a short time. As it grows the company will generate revenue by training its workforce. This is a great channel and s fascinating business model.

Forgive my ignorance about whirlychopters, why is the Robison restricted to VFR? I thought if you had the proper doohickeys you were good to go. Can't they put those gizzies on one?

It kind of amazes me that "glass" panels are still exotic expensive options in this day and age. You'd think that in our digital-centric world it'd be cheaper to manufacture, certify, and install universal multifunction digital instruments that could be tweaked for each application through software than to build and certify a whole bunch of complex mechanical gauges that each need their own plumbing/wiring and have to be made in a billion variants for various applications. I really wonder how much of the cost of glass just comes down to companies laughing all the way to the bank because people will pay extra for them.
@williameudy6336 жыл бұрын
Max you make a good point. The R & D, software and certification are probably the biggest costs. The manufacturing is likely to be significantly cheaper.
@bennylofgren32086 жыл бұрын
William Eudy You are correct on both accounts. The hardware itself should in theory be less expensive to manufacture than precision hardware instruments, but the huge cost is in software R&D and certification. It is insanely complex and expensive to produce next to fool-proof and bug free software. You do _not_ want your PFD to crash mid-flight...

It's not a AS 350 B3 it is an AS 350 B2 with VEMD. A B3 has an Arriel 2B or 2D engine and that is a Arriel 1D1 engine.

Nice video, shame about the lack of static heli displays. If you are doing another vid then maybe some more of the "support" stands. Be cool to see some of the gadgets for the helis. And that matt Black Hawk is something else. When are you getting one at BC? Or an A Star? Go have a chat with the bank manager. Early birthday present? Go on, you know you want to.

Is anyone trying to incorporate quadcopter technology from drones into full-sized helicopters?
@BEMS4Life6 жыл бұрын
Yes and at quite an alarming rate. I wouldn't be surprised if the plan for that Bell Air Taxi is 4x horizontal nacelles raised up above each corner. The body shape would suit it.
@williameudy6336 жыл бұрын
Benny When you consider the rotors in a quadcopter are shrouded turbans with no cyclic no tail rotor and no collective it’s actually much simpler than a conventional rotorcraft in that way. If you add gyro stabilization and perhaps fly-by-wire it becomes easy to fly to a degree that could streamline flight training significantly while ushering in an unprecedented level of safety.

@bennylofgren32086 жыл бұрын
William Eudy Very good points. I just don't like the asymmetry about quad copters. One rotor out and you have to immediately cut the one diagonally opposed as well to not tip over. And then you are precariously low on power as well as almost unable to maneuver.
