This reminds me of the first time Mischa had me try and hover. Oh boy! I think the 4 yr old did better than me haha!

Very nice idea and I love how encouraging you have been. Unbelievable how focused your 4 year old son Quinn was. He had a real tunnel look in his eyes and was almost not able to answer your question if he is ready! Really adorable. Great job on the first attempt! I am flying only RC helis and I remember how long it tool me until I was able to hover 4 minutes (1 battery) in fully manual 3D mode.

Thats with only 1/3 the controls. I had a pilot let me try this exact thing and it is NOT easy. I didnt get the tip about looking far off so I was focused on close things and I couldnt imagine with pedals and collective added in. He did let me fly on the way back to the airport (remote) and that was what actually started me down the rabbit hole of how helicopters worked and how I ended up finding this channel.

Nice video PY, thats about how it went for myself converting from fixed wing to helicopters, frustrating at first then it just falls into place.😊

Great test! Amy did an excellent job! I could see the next test being who progresses the quickest after like 5-10 practice runs.

Hovering is the hardest part of the flying for me). That damned helicopter allways want to slip each directions 😅 For all that I loves every helicopters. A few week ago I tried to hover my friend's EC-120B. It was not so easy because of the moderate wind. But finally I learnd the "know how"🙂

I was trying to hover in X-Plane and MSFS, any helicopter, with my VKB Gladiator NXT EVO stick, and I must admit it's bloody hard. Yes, it's easier when you have a cyclic control, but it's also easier in real life due to no latency, infinite resolution of controls, and the feel of g-forces.

I would love to be able to speak to you. I am probably the most rusty helicopter pilot ever. I used to fly a 206b3 42 years ago. I’ve recently done some R44 training to see if I can still do it. I think I’m doing ok. I have Bell 505 on order. Should receive it sometime in August/September. I would love to come fly with you before that. Do you have any interest? Jeff. Btw, I do have over 3k hours fixed wing. Mostly C510 single pilot.

By the looks it just based on cyclic controls which is not uncommon for instructors to release different controls during hover training at different times.

@Ronnie_B7 ай бұрын
Plenty high enough for the pilot to recover from any eventuality. We all know what happened to the Aeroflot flight and why, completely irrelevant
