I just got 8kx. In general I prefer my Reverb g2, but the big FOV is cool. I find I like "small" the best as you can see no distortions and the FOV is still bigger than most with decent overlap and clarity. Normal and Large distortions can sometimes make me feel fish eyed

Hahaha this FOV is so amazing I loved it back then. I hope for the 12k. I played so hard Skyrim VR with the 8KX and it was one of my unforgotten memories ever in VR.

I already know that the normal FOV of the 8KX is around 140 degree. I hope that whatever NEW headsets that they reveal tomorrow meet AT LEAST 140 degree or else, it's another bumper for me.

@@liebesmaennchen It is advertised as 200 degrees. Some 8kx players in the community measured that the maximum fov when worn normally is 170 to 180 degrees, but I question this. I measured the four gears myself, which are 98 118 138 158. This set of measurements The data is very close to yours, and it's pretty much what's shown in pimaxxr, so I don't think there's much error in my measurements. Even if the mask is removed, the maximum measurement is 170 degrees.

@@liebesmaennchen Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought it said crystal 140 degrees. The crystal is advertised as 140, but the actual measurement is about 108.

Just for shits and giggles, what would the crystals lenses look like on the 8kx panels? I know that Martin was able to pull the lenses on the 8KX out with a suction cup back during the m1 testing days, and I would be curious what the 8kx would look like on the normal fov setting but looking at it through the crystal lenses. Since the crystals lenses are easily removable,, it might be an interesting test, sort of like the old gear VR lens mod for the OG vive.

Probably a few things. One, the distortion profiles would be completely off obviously, since the lenses bend light differently between aespheric and fresnel. Two, the entire screen that's inside of the 8kx wouldn't even show up in the lens, since they, once again, weren't designed for the size of screens inside of the 8kx. If you see the screens inside of the crystal on their teardown video, you'd notice they are actually pretty small compared to the bulk of the headset. The sheer width of the screens on the 8kx is also why they needed the fresnel lenses to be so wide, so you could actually see the wide screens
