*! IMPORTANT !* If you have OpenXR Toolkit installed, there are two options to use the new integrated OpenXR runtime. One is to completely delete OpenXR Toolkit, along with Pimax XR and Quadview. Alternatively, after uninstalling Pimax XR and Quadview, you can open SteamVR, go to Settings, and under the OpenXR tab, disable all the layers. Then, don’t forget to enable the 'Use Quadview' option in DCS. Unfortunately, in the video, I was using the OpenXR Toolkit layer instead of the new integrated OpenXR runtime in Pimax Play, so keep that in mind.

The video nobody wants but everybody needs! Thank you!!!!!! Can you say what are the best settings to tweak when your system doesn’t have the same power as yours? Thanks.
@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
😂 Yeah, that’s right! If you enable the 90Hz upscale mode, Quadview, and DLSS, you'll see a huge boost in performance with these settings. Honestly, I should probably raise my graphics a bit since I could handle it. I don’t know your system, but give it a try, you should be fine with these settings. Other settings you can tweak to fine-tune performance are visibility range, clouds, shadows and you can disable civil traffic.

Thanks for the video! I am can now see that I am still using the Mbucchia Quadviews implementation and not the PIMAX one.. One thing to not: It seems kind of counter productive to both use less than native res (0.8) + Upscaling in Pimax + Upscaling in DCS (DLSS).. I wonder if maybe you are seeing massive diminishing returns.
@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
Yeah, it’s a bit too much for my system... I’ll raise the settings a little bit. I think the 0.75 comes from a test I did on MSFS without upscaling in Pimax. Anyway, with these settings, I can disable Quadview while maintaining a solid frame rate.

Hi, at time stamp 2.33 in your Video, in the device settings on the Fixed Foveated Rendering part it has a check box for Open XR Quadviews and Pimax. I have the latest version of Pimaxplay and it doesn't show that. I am using the Crystal Light. It only shows OpenXRquad views and Pimax Central Priority Rendering. I do not have the Pimax XR or Quadview. I do not have the OpenXR Tool kit just Pimaxplay. Why do I see something different than yours? Great vid even though a little confusing. Thank you.

@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! I haven’t tested the Crystal with the new Pimax OpenXR runtime yet, but I believe you can follow the same steps shown in the video. First, uninstall Quadview and PimaxXR. To use the new Pimax OpenXR runtime, you have two options: you can either delete the OpenXR Toolkit (though you’ll lose its functionalities), or go to SteamVR, open Settings, and in the OpenXR tab, disable the OpenXR Toolkit layer. This way, you can re-enable it anytime to keep using OpenXR Toolkit features. I’ll test it soon and might make a video about it.

Is VR supposed to be darker and less clear than a 1440p curved monitor? I got my Cristal light 2 days ago. I can't get it to look as good as my 1440p monitor. Im starting to believe i have a defensive headset.

@@FlightSimulation I’ve tried your settings and still can’t get a consistent good image. Beginning to think I’ve got a bad unit.
@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
These settings are highly optimized for performance. If you enable upscale mode with resolution at 0.75 and Quadview in DCS, you’ll see reduced image quality but get the best performance. Depending on your system, you can experiment by turning off upscale mode or increasing the resolution to 0.8 or 0.85 for improved image quality.
@mattgillatt2 ай бұрын
@@FlightSimulation I’ve been trying different settings since I got my unit back in August. Pimax sent me new lenses, which improved picture quality a bit. I even upgraded to a 4090 GPU. The main problems for me are the sharpness of the image, and if I do get a half decent image, the next time I use the headset, the quality of clarity changes.

Hello and thank you for this video. Do you think these settings are applicable on an i7-13700/4080/64GB? When you talk about uninstalling QuadViews, is it QuadViews Companion? Since the last update 1.35.02.01 I have a lot of image vibrations (even fixed only when moving my head). Thank you for your feedback.
@FlightSimulation20 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! Absolutely, these settings are highly optimized, too much for my hardware, so they should be a great starting point for you. For example, I’m not using Quadview because my hardware can handle things fine without it. I have FFR enabled but Quadview is disabled. It’s important to uninstall Quadview itself. Quadview Companion is just an interface, and it’s useless without Quadview, so you can uninstall that as well. As for image vibrations, that’s a bit generic, but one suggestion I have is to try changing the room illumination frequency in the Pimax Play settings. Another thing you can try is to change refresh rate.
@Ragnar_7759019 күн бұрын
@@FlightSimulationThanks for your feedback. Precisely without QuadViews Companion it is unmanageable, the images are blurry and I have a big drop in fps. QuadViews in PimaxPlay is not precise enough (performance, balance, hight: it is blurry question settings). For the frame rate I tried everything, 120 and 90 Hz are unmanageable (too many lags or freezes). I have not tested the lighting frequency of my room, going from daylight to LED lighting, I will test that. Thanks again.
@FlightSimulation19 күн бұрын
Try 90Hz upscale, FFR on, and leave Quadview disabled in DCS. They’re probably working on adding controls for OpenXR and Quadview inside Pimax Play. In the meantime, stick to running without Quadview, your hardware should be able to handle it.

Grazie, ottima guida! 👍👍👏👏👏

4080 super users with a 7800x3d and 64gb ram try the same settings as he suggests under DCS, maybe lower the water to medium and civilian traffic off. But in Pimax play use Pimax as the FFR and not quad views with quality, 120hz refresh but lock into 1/2 and pixel density at .88 smoothing on. Enjoy a locked 60fps without the horrible shimmering quad views . At least that’s how it works on my rig YMMV.

@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
Haha, the bloom effect is nice! When you look at the sun, it blinds you, hahaha. Yeah, that's another way to set things up. If 60 FPS is enough for you, this is a great setup. Thanks for pointing that out!
@Locutus7202 ай бұрын
@@FlightSimulationyou’re absolutely welcome. I only added my settings because you’re using a 4090. There’s other videos out there that skip the 4080(S) series cards. To be honest I haven’t tried a higher locked in frame rate, but I did try the 90hz upscale and it looked a bit soft to me and the frame rate wasn’t always as stable as I liked it to be, that was when the option to upscale was in beta. I’ll give it a shot later to see if it changed. Anyway, great vid as it’s a really good starting point for most people getting into VR.

hello everyone, I have the Pimax Cristal, do you think it's better to make the switch to the Pimax Crislal Light
@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
In my opinion, DFR is better, but it’s the only major advantage of the Crystal for simmers. The Light model is lighter, battery-free, and supports both FFR and upscaling mode, which is great. If battery life and weight aren’t big concerns for you, you might also consider waiting for the Super. Anyway, if you’re leaning toward the Light, check the video description for a $10 discount! ;)
@postalou68022 ай бұрын
hi , thanx for your spec , why use bloom effect ?? and sharpening (? ) why also please and why upscale mode 90hz for pimax ?. thanks in advcance
@FlightSimulation2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I use the bloom effect because it adds a subtle glow to bright objects like sunlight, reflections, etc. It gives a more immersive and cinematic feel to the game, especially in VR. It’s a matter of personal preference, if you like a bit of extra shine and visual flare, bloom helps with that. If you prefer a cleaner look, you can turn it off. Sharpening helps to enhance fine details and textures in VR, making everything look crisper and clearer. It adds more clarity, but again, it’s something you can tweak to your liking. The 90Hz upscale mode is a key setting for better performance without sacrificing much visual quality. The Pimax Crystal Light is quite demanding in terms of resolution, so running the headset in native mode can hit performance hard. By using 90Hz upscale, you get a nice performance boost, while keeping the visuals smooth. Since the Crystal Light doesn’t have eye-tracking and Dynamic Foveated Rendering, this setting really helps balance performance and quality!

The resolution option in DCS is not active while in VR. However, the maximum resolution you see corresponds to the max resolution of your screen. Your screen is likely 1920x1080, which is Full HD, while mine is 3840x2160, which is 4K.

@@FlightSimulation No, I deleted Open XR, Quadviews and Quadviews Companion and the previous version of Pimax Play before installing the new Pimax Play incorporating it all. (there was a new Pimax Play released yesterday btw). As I understood it, you have to select Quadview switch in DCS for it to use it via Quadviews layer in Pimax Play. I am suspecting you may have the old Quadviews App still detected somewhere on your system and could be doubling up - hence why you get the message when you select the switch in DCS and I don't. Of course - I too could be wrong!
