@sumduma55 Жыл бұрын
Disco lights might negate any need or advantages for it, but I put led spotlights on my trailer on the box right about where the wheel fenders are. They work so much better than a couple lights near the brake and tail lights. It also allows you to see what you are dumping. Except I have to turn mine on manually and it requires the park/marker lights to be on. They are tied into the trailer park lights.

Needs a tiny bit of reverse lift so instead of having to wait you can just back it into a lake or river to fill it up like a pool - the reverse lift lets you keep the water in until you've got it haued out of the...uh...water.
@Nobody-Nowhere Жыл бұрын
This is a great example on how you make functional stuff whitout over-engineering and over planning that tends to drag stuff into infinity project territory. You don't see this type of practical stuff in youtube much. Thats a 10/10 trailer you got there now.

Now add rubber bumpers for the gate so you don't bust the eardrums of anyone standing by if it bangs into the trailer after pulling forward. Assuming it doesn't have any. Tinnitus doesn't go away.

I love you. Keep in mind that those linear actuators tend to have moisture ingress issues. Especially in winter they can jam up due to ice forming inside.

I would try and utilize the hydraulics of the trailer. Could you potentially build a manifold coming off of the trailer pump so you could have quick attachment points that would allow you to have an array of hydraulic equipment at your fingertips!? Tubing bender, press etc!
@cranktowncity Жыл бұрын
That is fricken genius
@WillPeters22 Жыл бұрын
Trailer Weight Sensor: Hydraulic pressure could be harnessed as a more sophisticated means of measuring weight. Instead of individual load cells, a hydraulic system could measure the overall pressure changes, reflecting the load of the trailer. Self-Inflating Tires: A hydraulic line could be run to each tire, where a small hydraulic piston could regulate the tire's internal pressure, self-inflating or deflating as needed. While arguably over-engineered, there's a certain satisfaction to be derived from the complexity, offsetting the deflating experience of manual inflation.
@AndrewBrowner Жыл бұрын
@@WillPeters22 theres no need to inflate or deflate trailer tires.. its a trailer not a jeep on 40s.. and using the pressure in the lift cylinder wont give a weight of items in the trailer only the force needed to dump the box.. take 1000lbs and put it up by the front of the trailer and 1000lbs back by the tail gate itll think the first load weight 5x as much as the second load when they were the exact same weight
@alec4672 Жыл бұрын
@@cranktowncity to tie in with the beginning of the video one of the hydraulic options off the manifold could run a hydraulic ram that replaces your manual tongue jack. Just flip a valve and you can jack up the trailer with hydraulics.
@earlgeary8880 Жыл бұрын
I have that set up on mine. The tongue is hydraulic. The dump is hydraulic, and the gate in the rear is hydraulic swings Both ways works as a ramp and dumps up in the air like a garbage truck. Got the idea from the ultimate dump trailer made by BWIze

AWESOME! Maybe add a (torsion rod?) spring to keep the gate from flapping around when its unlatched. So when the box is down it kinda keeps it pulled against the box but when its up gravity pulls the gate/spring open. We'd be best friends if you lived near me.

I would put a horn and maybe flashing lights on one of those xtra buttons, to make sure nobody is hanging out unawares that they're about to be dumped upon, some kind of klaxon or beep beep beep or something. Or maybe have an auger to shove stuff out of the trailer - but then you won't really be able to put a bunch of gnarly rocks in there that will smush it. The auger could be something you just manually slap in there when needed maybe? Just drop it in and poke it through a hole in the front that plugs it into a drivetrain, and otherwise the hole just has a flap that holds it shut when no auger is present. Just spitballin here. Thanks for the cool vijayo!

You're videos are informative and entertaining! I didn't know i could use a relay like that. The trailer needs a scale, LEDs, and auto Jack. The truck needs a soliniod behind the electrical outlets to eject them and a auto hitch. For unhooking. But if you could figure out how to auto hook it up (with out kids) that would be better. Granted that was one of my favorite jobs growing up. Love your videos!
@isaacbrewer5616 Жыл бұрын
Great video! Really appreciate the simple electronics wiring diagrams. I am curious if the relays draw any power while not in use? If so, would that drain your battery if left alone for too long? For the trailer, a weight scale would be cool to add.
@artbyrobot1 Жыл бұрын
good point about the relays. I used a relay in my van repair project that would run down the van battery when the van is off and to get around this, I used a very high internal resistance relay where it only draws very low amount of power such that it would take I think 2-3 months to run down the truck battery. It also was 1/4 the total draw that is required to be considered a "parasytic drain" on the battery.
