I’m so glad you showed the real struggle of turning this right side out cuz “the struggle is real”. You have solved the mystery of this type bottom for me. Thanks Robin. Blessings.

The struggle is real for sure. Sometimes you don’t have a choice but to have a narrow turning hole. You need a bit of patience and a few cuss words 😉

Great tutorial Robyn. I also like a lined pouch even if it is vinyl or cork. I like the way you put the little Little Mark's so that it is even on either side. I struggled it was a little bit off. You are very very clear and precise in your directions

Hi Robin, love this technique-just a suggestion- if you roll up a dish towel to slide in your bag before you press the seam open will prevent any creases in the fabric! Thank You for Sharing! P.S. why couldn’t You keep your zipper open to turn?
@rsislandcrafts3 жыл бұрын
Terrific tip. Thank you. I’m not sure what you mean in your PS. Maybe you’re talking about when I popped the corners on the zippers?? It’s easier for me when the zipper is closed a bit. If not that, then I need a bit more I formation. Thanks.
@MarieH5283 жыл бұрын
@@rsislandcrafts oh, I meant instead of leaving an opening in the lining, could you have just left the zipper open to turn it right side out?
@rsislandcrafts3 жыл бұрын
Ah gotcha. If I were to sew down both sides and not leave a turning space in the lining I would no longer have access to the zipper. All sides of the pouch would be sewn closed. Does that make sense? I have seen pouches where they make them similar to a tote bag. The “drop” the lining into the pouch. Then they add the zipper. The zipper has to be the exact size and it’s a bit more fiddly. Leaving a turning hole in the lining is an easy way and the most common way to turn a zipper pouch. Although someone is always coming up with a new way to make bags.

Hello Love your video. I love that you mark the size on how much you want to pinch your bottom pouch. I wanted to know if the 931 Fusible interfacing wrinkles much after washing once the pouch becomes dirty! 808 and 809 wrinkles a lot making your project look really ugly and homemade! Thanks, Teresa.
@rsislandcrafts2 жыл бұрын
It does wrinkle a tad which is frustrating. I try to use what I have on hand. For smaller pouches I’ve decided to use fusible fleece for now. For anything that wouldn’t need quilting if I used batting. Fusible fleece can wrinkle when you turn the pouch out but so far I’ve found that I can steam iron/press any wrinkles out in the final steps of the pouch. Some design and fabrics will hide any little wrinkle in a smaller pouch. I recently watched a video where someone said to try the sew in versions. Since they aren’t fused in place they tend to not be as permanently wrinkled. I haven’t tried It yet so I don’t have any opinions but it’s worth a test on one pouch.

Cute French-style fabric. Of course I love the blue fabric pouch, my favourite colour. I was thinking about the folds in the lining - couldn't they be folded the opposite way so they sit neater inside? The outside fabric has the fold into the middle so the lining would have the fold on the outside. I've not tried this method yet so not sure how it would work :) I really need to get back to my sewing - spring cleaning has been going on today!

It could work. It’s worth testing out. I’ve made a total of two of these bags and I made It up as I went 🤣🤣🤣

In a past video you mentioned where you got your zippers online and also your snaps. I can't seem to find those references. If you could let me know where to go shop or which videos to go rewatch to find out where to go shop. I do like the zipper pulls too. I think a blue zipper pull would be a nice addition to a pouch for my sis.

I was wondering since the pouch is wider than it is tall if you could leave a larger turning opening at the lining bottom instead of the side. Would that work?
@rsislandcrafts Жыл бұрын
You can try leaving the opening in the bottom if you prefer. It’s the pleated section but It should still work. Never hurts to try. Good luck!
