Great work, I’m looking forward to trying grafting! And pines are the best trees!

Be careful Jason, grafting is fairly addictive! 😁 thank you!

@@ArkefthosBonsai I bet! So is growing from seed; I have over 1500 seedlings. I had to build a greenhouse to winter them, haha. Lots of fun

Interesantes trabajos y excelentes resultados 👌 No conozco la "ley de los dos entrenudos" y tengo mucha curiosidad por saber de qué se trata 😅 GRACIAS ❤ ¡Salud!
@ArkefthosBonsai11 ай бұрын
Thank you Chus! So, at every internode of a tree, if more than two branches start, eventually the part where they meet, will thicken a lot, more than the trunk below it and thus, inverse taper will appear. Now, this takes time to happen, so you have a few years to prune back to two outgoing branches per internode. But if you leave it with more than two, heavy inverse taper will ruin the aesthetics of any tree. Hope I explained that clearly. Cheers!

Ah vale 😅 ¡Entiendo! Es que el nombre me llevó a confusión, lo que querías decir es que hay que dejar sólo dos ramas en cada entrenudo 👍. Pensé que te referías a otra cosa. Mil gracias ❤ ¡Salud!

Great grafts mate.. what is the root stock?. Looks similar to radiata pine.. something that has vigorous root growth?.
@ArkefthosBonsai9 ай бұрын
Very nice guess Paul! Even though I'm thousands miles away, Pinus brutia that I mostly use, is quite similar to radiata. Also use halepensis (but it does not like to be grafted) and slowly I'm starting to use more and more Pinus nigra which is the best root stock. But yes, radiata is quite similar and I've always wanted to try some. Cheers!

Your grafting skills are amazing. When is the best season to graft?
@ArkefthosBonsai11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I appreciate it! Excellent question! So, it is important that you have some kind of humidity chamber. A place where you can have constant humidity over 90% and control light hours and the temprature. If you do have that, the best time I have found to be last days of August to first week of September. Highest success rate. Providing you can keep the grafts under 25C, best under 20C. If that's not possible, then you graft early January. Right after the winter solstice, 21st of December, you bring your rootstock inside the greenhouse or humidity chamber, to get them to wake up. 2 to 3 weeks later you graft them. Have fun!
