As I fellow homemaker, I have learned home based, self sufficient and simple living is the most FULFILLING and most PEACEFUL way of life that nourishes our souls and our families…thanks for the reminder!💗💗💗🙏 Also…I’ve always been afraid of putting EVERYTHING in jars not knowing how I’ll keep track of expiration…GENIUS to put it under the lid🙌

I don't think sugar expires. Look at it, smell it, taste it. If it is still good, then it is still good. Sugar just needs a hand-tight jar lid closure. Great video!

I stopped using plastic mixing bowls and switched to thrifted ceramic ones. They’re so beautiful I keep them out on my shelf. Also I’m looking to use wicker laundry baskets. I just painted my laundry room a beautiful basil green and used a stencil to create a wallpaper look. Everyone says it’s the most beautiful laundry room and it was only paint. I also switched from listening to country music to instrumental guitar music pretty mulch all day other than Christian music. Just small changes have really helped change how I look at the mundane tasks.

Perfect timing! 😃 After living in our down sized forever home 🙏🏻 a year+ with an awkward pantry cabinet like yours, we purchased 3 drawers my husband is installing tomorrow. 👏🏻 So, I have been cleaning the hard places first (gas range top, oven, etc.), so I can really enjoy the pantry redo and be done! I did get some ideas about storing oats and ground coffee! ❤ the exp date labels and my spice cabinet is organized like yours on tiered wire shelves! Alphabetized 😉 ❤ what you said about needing to get routine chores done before a project. It's always been that way for me, still is @71, even with no kids at home. It was comforting to know I am in good company. You have a lovely voice and manner of sharing that promotes peacefulness. Thank you! 🙏🏻 Love the recipes, too! 🥰 25:12

I love your videos and your home and you and your sweet family, Andrea. I never miss a video including this one. In the future, though, please know that you can take "non-perishable" expiration dates with a grain of salt. Use your senses. If it tastes good and looks good then its still usable. No need to throw it away. I've even used canned good that are a couple of years old and they were perfectly fine.

Those nachos looked so tasty and colorful! I once heard that we are to “eat the rainbow” everyday…I do believe there was a “rainbow” on your plates! 😁 I love your sweet kitchen and how you put so much thought into making the everyday beautiful. I always feel that if the items in your kitchen/home are all pleasant to look upon, not garishly colored plastics sitting about, that even when things are out of place they don’t look so bad. It may take me extra time to decant items or take labels off, but I have the time and it puts me in a better mindset as I do my job as a homemaker.

Andrea - Please add this to your recipe blog - I WOULD LOVE IF YOU HAD JUST A VIDEO WITH RECIPES - TAKE FROM OTHER VIDEOS AND MAKE A SHORT ONE WITH THE NAME OF THE RECIPE - IT TOOK ME 1/2 HOUR TO FIND THE VIDEO WITH THIS RECIPE. It was worth it I made my nachos with ground beef seasoned with chili and taco seasoning and topped with the melted cheese your salsa and I added shredded lettuce. My husband and I gave the nachos with the salsa a 9/10 on the scale… so good. Thanks for the share. I also made some real home made whip topping after one I saw of your videos and used it with for our special strawberry syrup pancakes that I make on special occasions. You’re the BEST! Thanks so much

I have been using cast iron for over fifty yrs. I clean mine the way my mother taught me. I use a "Chore Boy" which is a stainless steel pad. After rinsing it I wipe it with a damp cloth like you were doing, then put it on the stove on med. to high heat till it dries, maybe a couple minutes, And my cast iron is just beautiful, with no build up on the outside, and it is well seasoned just by cooking. Love your channel!

I love the black bean/corn salad as well but I dress it with a mixture shaken in a mason jar of oil, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper. Sometimes I add chopped bell pepper, sometimes canned tomatoes with green chilis. Chill it in fridge to marinate for an hour.

Completely off topic here! But for your new build, if you decorate with mini lights or Christmas Village at the Holidays, have your electrician install Outlets at the bottom/top of your stair bannisters (if you have) for mini lights on your garland... as well as on your Mantle (if you have one) for plugging in a Christmas village display, or mini lights!

Those nachos looked so yummy! As for my pantry items I write date expires down on the package when putting away for first time. Of course I don’t do it on anything I know we’ll use before they expire, for instance diced tomatoes. I find it’s so much easier for me in that I’m not searching for hard to see and read dates. Especially on spices. Also a lot of time the date has rubbed off from me wiping them off after each use. I started doing this well over 10 years ago and I’m so glad I did.

I just added the measurements - came out perfect! Salsa - Corn and black Beans Corn and Blackbean Salsa: 1 can of rinsed black beans, 1 bag of frozen sweet corn, 3 tomatoes diced , 2 avocados, 1/2 cup chopped red onion, 1/2 cup chopped cilantro, your preference of 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp onion powder, and 1 tsp italian seasoning, lime essential oil or the juice of a lime. Combine all ingredients except avocado. Add a few tbs of raw honey for sweetness and chopped avocado right before serving.
