Lorraine Massey, author of "Curly Girl Handbook" and founder of DevaChan Salon, said something I a TV segment struck me. This is as close as I remember it: "Frizz is curls waiting to happen…Frizz is curls asking for moisture." The video is on KZbin. "Curl Power styling tips for girls with curls" with ABC15 Arizona. This one starts with dry hair. But there's another video-"How to Really Wash and Condition Curly Hair"-that starts with cleaning and conditioning your hair. It's on the Marie Claire channel. Check it out if you're still struggling. I don't have this down pat, but those helped me!

@kurlykpopfan81113 жыл бұрын
@@thatgirl5630 Yeah we do kinda care actually since they are both techniques used for curly hair. If someone watched this who was new to taking care of their curly hair and they wanted to learn how to pineapple their hair, they would be confused by this video or simply follow through not realizing that this isn’t pineappling. Just for reference, a pineapple is when you put your curls into a loose, high ponytail at bedtime so that your curls will still look nice the next day. As NeonMuffin stated, this is plopping, which is a technique used for creating more defined curls during the air drying process, usually suggested for those with looser textures. I hope this makes more sense.

Don't brush your hair! The only time you should ever detangle curly hair is in the shower when you condition! And use a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush! Once your hair is dry and styled, avoid touching it too much because that'll just make it frizzier
@em.418810 жыл бұрын
finger comb your hair bc brushing it consecutively causes frizziness
@thisisleah307210 жыл бұрын
Curly girl rule #1 Brush your hair when its wet with a good slippery conditioner to detangle. And start using a tshirt to dry ur hair instead of a towel. It creates frizz and static . Unless you often wear your hair straight, I would recommend the Curly Girl method . Fine curlies are most prone to breakage and frizz and if you really want to have defined curls you have to swear off HEAT STYLING.
@momroxx9 жыл бұрын
I have thick coarse curly hair. I don't even brush it when it's wet. Buy a good wide tooth comb. Only comb when it's wet. I learned to what I call finger fluff. Coconut oil from organix is good for next morning dry curly hair. If you blow dry, always use a diffuser. The less you touch your hair the less frizz you will have. Also I found out it helps to invest in a dry shampoo. I wash my hair every 2 or 3 days to keep it from getting to dry. Dry shampoo helps keep the roots looking clean.

Going no poo helped me a lot. I went from store bought, to baking soda/acv, to oatmeal. Now I find I can drench my hair in cold water, and scrunch daily. If I'm lazy I'll wash my hair once a week or every two weeks. Twice a week if I'm on top of stuff. I maintain my loose spirals quite well (i.e. soft & minimal frizz) with this regimen, especially if I put my hair up in a SLAP at night.

I have perfectly curly hair on the bottom and a small layer of stubborn straight hair on the top. I've noticed that as time goes on the straight hair is becoming more curly, but does anyone know how I could get the straight hair to look more like the curly hair? Scrunching works to an extent, but it usually straightens out a little before my hair is completely dry. I hate using heat on my hair, so if there's anything that's easy and heatless, that would be fantastic.
@Isabellagomez12989 жыл бұрын
My hair is exactly how you described yours, and I've found using a sea salt spray helps a lot for my hair. Normal curl gel/spray makes my hair crunchy and gross, but sea salt spray leaves my hair really soft. It doesn't give me the most defined curls, but it's the best I've found so far. Hope this helps!❤️

IcedLipGloss I never use any kind of heat on it, so I don't see how it could be heat damage. I already do a ton of moisture treatments on it. It's actually very well moisturized, and doesn't seem to be damaged in any way. It's just not consistently curly.

I have naturally wavy hair and I hate it because I have long layers, which I'm trying to grow out to one length, but anyways, the long part of my hair is pretty straight, but the top is pretty wavy\curly. When I was younger it was all one texture. I don't like the look of it, it looks like I couldn't make up my mind and straightened half my hair. Any recommendations anyone?
@catderbala10 жыл бұрын
scrunch the long part but just a few times and really squeeze the water out without moving around too much and repeat that every 5ish minutes to help your hair "remember" its natural texture. I had that same problem before I started using a t-shirt to dry my hair too so you may want to try that if you don't already. You could also try sea salt spray but only on the parts you want to be curly again and then scrunch your hair like I said before :) I hope that helped!

My hair is anywhere from wavy to Botacelli curl depending on how much moisture I put into it. When it's wet, if I put it up in a 'reverse pineapple' - a tight doubled over pony tail, it will come out with loose bouncy waves (as long is it's just shoulder length. I like to do this for the shine it gives and the nice curl texture without any heat.

I have a difficult time explaining what my hair texture is, since it largely varies on the humidity/temperature of the place where it dries. ---When I wash it in the morning and let it air dry (completely down and unpinned, aside from my side fringe that is pulled into a French twist and secured with a single jaw clip. The fringe looks bad and is very annoying if it's left curly and unpinned) throughout the day, my hair has very big, defined, and twisty curls. If I want to leave my hair natural, then this method usually looks the best and obviously isn't even the least bit damaging. But since my hair is so thick, it can take a very long time for it to dry like this. Also, if I wanted to wash my hair in the morning instead of in the evening, I'd have to wake up 4-4:30 AM on weekdays to ensure that I make the bus. ---When I pull my hair into a tight bun or ponytail and let it air dry, then my hair tends to go into smaller, tighter curls. However, I don't like how it looks nearly as much as the previously mentioned option, it takes longer to dry, and I get an irritated, itchy scalp when my hair is pulled into such a tight ponytail for so long. ---If I sleep on loose, freshly washed hair, then it gets puffy and frizzy. It gets so frizzy that most of my curls get lost in a sea of a stringy, afro-like trainwreck. ---Sleeping with tied-up freshly washed hair usually leaves it still slightly damp in the morning, which is nice because then I can still manipulate it or leave it out to air dry so it can look like my first option. The only problem this one tends to have is that sometimes I end up pulling out the elastic if I wake up half asleep at 3 AM. The other problem is using bobby pins to secure the hair not fitting into my ponytail (I have shoulder-length, layered hair that I am currently growing out) and how that can be uncomfortable to sleep on. So I have quite a strange and varying hair texture. It hardly ever looks the same for two days in a row.

Thanks for the video! I had straight hair my entire life. Then, between my fortieth and forty-first birthdays, my hair literally just turned wavy! So the whole "curly hair" thing is still kind of new to me. I have a tip for other curly girls. I love the results I get from wrapping my hair in a tee, but the shape was always awkward. So I bought one of those twin-size t-shirt sheet sets on clearance (at Target, I think). I cut it up, and now I have a pile of nicely rectangular jersey-knit hair towels, for less than $10. For the fitted sheet, I cut off the elastic, then cut along the corner seams and cut off the long, skinny pieces that would have been at the head and foot of the bed. (I'm an herbalism student, so I use those pieces to strain herbs.) That left me with a big, flat rectangle, just a bit smaller than the flat sheet.

When my hair was long I had like an awkward curly/wavy hair texture, but I recently just cut my hair short and now I have super curly medium curls . 👌🏽💖

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to see the no heat tutorial please. My hair is kind of a weird mix of curly/wavy, and some days even straight, you never know.

Super super thick curly hair. I could have an Afro with my hair. It looks short but when straightened is about 2-3 inches down from my shoulder. Had to put my hair into 2 sections and then connect the two hair ties into one ponytail for your heat less straightening video. It worked! Thanks

My hair, is so curly. And I hate having it curly because it's short, and it gets frizzy all the time, so I straighten it a lot but it damages my hair. Your videos are really helpful! I haven't tried doing anything in them, but I'm dying to!!

Hi! I'm 12 and I have exactly the same hair as you but a little bit shorter, I have tried to straiten it but it was a enormous hair! I have learnt so much from you and i'm so grateful

If anyone has straight hair and get it to curl no matter what try and keep curling it with a curling iron until you forcefully make it curly trust me it works although your hair might get frizzy

Oh my gosh!!! This is an amazing trick, I am heading to try it:-) Thanks for all your tips, I have super thin hair but curls like yours that like to shrink to the moon! I usually have to weight them with a clip at the end to keep them from shrinking so I am excited to try this to see what happens:-) I try and put a pre-treat of oils (coconut, olive, castor oil, jojoba, a mix of the listed it depends) at least once a week and sleep in them ( I put them in and put my hair in a pineapple on my head and put a towel on my pillow) and wash out in the morning. I wash with Wen, Joico, Curly girl... any of the Co-Wash conditioning cleansers. I also put a leave in conditioner in when done and oil as well... This works for me:-) Otherwise, my hair looks like I stuck it in a light socket! Yikes!!! Thanks for your videos, I am loving them!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on the climate but in the summer its curly and more ringlety. In autumn my hair is a mixture between dry and moisturised. In the winter my hair gets more wavey then curly. I straighten my fringe every morning so I couldn't live without my straighteners lol. Xx

i love your hair and i myself have the exact same type of curly thick hair as you and i used to straighten it all the time like for 3 years but this year and watching you made me LOVE my natural curls so thank you so much😭😍

I'm going to try the T-shirt. My trouble is, my hair takes 10-12 hours to dry depending on how it's been done. Keep your great videos coming girl!! Thanks xx

Holy smokes! You have beautiful hair!!!!!!!! My hair is colored (of course) but it is very waving when wet and then when dry is waves in alllllll different directions. I have had to use style products and a round brush to get it to behave and it is pretty short right now. I am thinking about growing it back out, but it is very thick like yours. Thanks for the tutorial!

When I don't do anything with my hair, it's really baby fine and super soft. And for some reason my hair has decided that it wants to be straight but curly at the same time. It's just really indecisive :)

Okay seriously, I just fell in love with your channel! I've watched about 5 of your videos so far and liked every single one! Your curly hair hacks are the best, so realistic and well explained! I feel like we have very similar hair types, I have tons of heat damage and my curls are just dry, frizzy, waves now; so watching your channel makes me so happy to try new things for my crazy hair! You make me wanna embrace my curls, rather than just straighten them out! Love you, pretty! Your personality and all! Definitely my favorite videos to watch at the moment💖💖💖💖

Up until last week, I just wore my hair straight all the time (it's down to my shoulder blades on my back). But last week I tried scrunching my hair after I finished washing it and I got these loose curls. Some about 1-2 inches in length, others 2-3 inches in length almost throughout my entire hair from the tops of my ears down. I'm going to keep trying to pull the natural waves out and wear it curly all the time. Here's to hoping my hair will adapt in a few weeks and I'll end up with gorgeous curls all the time!!

My hair is similar to yours!! However mine can get so frizzy. I started piling my hair up to let it dry after seeing it in your previous hair routine video. I loved how my hair turned out so I started to do that. Thanks so much!!!

Would love to see a video on keeping your curls nice overnight because I don't have time to style in the morning and whenever I go to bed, the next morning when I wake up I have a big messy fuzzy hairy monster on my head.

My hair is naturally curly like your i do the same method as you, i straighten my hair once every few weeks and try to keep it straight throughout the week by not washing it, i take showers but i put my hair up lol.. when i do wash my hair it is really really curly. i do the pineapple trick as well.

I naturally have rough, dry hair. My friends call it 'horse hair' lol.But after drying my hair after a shower, (naturally drying, no heat) it stays a soft and shiny for like an hour then becomes really dry.
