We make a pineapple skin drink like this in Jamaica. 💖 I like to make mines with cloves, allspice, ginger, hibiscus (known as Sorrel in Jamaica or fleur de Jamaica in Mexico) and cardamom pods. I Make it without sweetener then when I pour myself a drink I sweeten that cup. It helps me to not over sweeten and everyone can choose their own level of sweetness.

I’m so glad I watched both the slicing of the pineapple and making a drink from the skins. I’m down to an overripe apple and orange and a very very overripe but sweet pineapple during this COV19. I don’t want to waste a thing! I cleaned and halved my pineapple and shared it with a neighbor who can slice it herself, and now I’m boiling the skin. So excited to be learning and doing a new thing, thank you! 🍍

Thank you sooooo much for this information. I was searching for how to use melon skins, and all I can find is how to use the white part of the fruit. I didn't even think to ask the question of how to use pineapple skins, and now I can't imagine why I never thought of it. This has an added bonus of keeping us citrus-heads from over-acidifying our compost heaps. I am going to also use this as a second-fermentation in my kombucha, which will be absolutely wonderful I think and a great use of the sugars to make fizziness since my body doesn't love the sugars on their own. As a person who does not know many languages I know I am missing out on so much information online. Thank you very much for sharing your insights in an English-language format for those of us who do not have access to some others

Place in clean water for 30 minutes and use the water to water plants. Then if you want to add some salt like three tablespoons for three pineapples in new water and wait for ten minutes and throw away the salty water. Then you can continue with the boiling mentioned in the video.
