Hi Luke, great video. I’m a fellow lefty 10.2 index currently looking to change from G410. I have tested the new Callaway Paradym irons against the ping G430 and found the ping more consistent for me. I’m approaching 70 this month and although don’t feel it my club head speed has dropped and now is around 66-68mph. But with the G430 still gives me 134 yds carry total 151 spin 4500, smash factor on this one was 1.48. I only use irons 6 to Pw with 52 and 58 wedges. Keith

Hi Keith! Thank you for watching my video and for your comment! Great to hear from a fellow lefty! I think consistency is the best word to describe Ping golf clubs so what you’ve experienced is absolutely no surprise to me! I truly believe there aren’t many bad golf clubs these days, just ones that suit certain players better dependent on our swings and what we need the most help with but I do believe the Ping will suit most as they are such an all rounder! Also I’m in my mid 30s and I only use 6i upwards in irons - so you’re not alone! I love a 5 hybrid! All the best! 👍🏼

Just subscribed, love your videos. So it's down to 2 clubs: Ping 430 and Big bertha 2023. 70 years old, 14 HC. I love oversized clubs they give me confidence, using Launcher Halos now, losing too much distance. I love the Bertha look but wonder how they will perform vs Ping 430. Thanks.

Hi richdiorio3650! So I guess the hard thing is that I think the Big Bertha are probably a closer relation to the Ping G730 rather than the Ping G430 (which I'd say are closer to AI Smoke). I've got a review of the G730 on the channel in case that's worth you watching? But with your question in mind, I think the Big Bertha are a great iron if you like the oversized look and the offset inspires confidence (totally get that!). You'll also get a strong ball flight, maximum distance and a good spin rate... You also get the unique look that I think only the Cobra Darkspeed is similar too. The Ping's I think offer a bit more spin and consistency of spin and as a result a bit more control, however I think they would be a fraction shorter carry distance. Not sure if that helps or confuses you more! Sorry if it does!

Hi Luke, These sound great, I think it’s time for me to invest in some new clubs so will put these on the list to test. My main concern is the chunky look as ridiculously I originally learnt to play with 2nd hand blades so any club looks big!
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony! Great to hear from you and thank you for still watching and supporting the channel! How are you pal? Yes most of the game improvement irons offer so much help and forgiveness but that does come with a chunkier look and more offset - both things that lots of people don’t like the look of. You might find that something in the middle like the Players Distance iron category offers you the best of both worlds… that bit of extra help to make the game easier but retaining more of the looks (things like the Titleist T200, TM P770/790, Mizuno JPX, Callaway Paradym, Srixon ZX5 etc.). The one thing I have noticed from hitting a lot of these clubs now is that the finish used and the slight curves in the design can make a big difference to how they look, with some of the more shiny chrome finished ones ‘feeling’ less chunky in my hands than the more matt finished ones but that’s just an opinion and you might see it different when you pick them up! A good starting point could be a trip to your local pro shop to pick up a couple of the display sets and see if you could get onboard with the looks before you get fitted! All the best pal! 👍🏼

I hear you Ken! Unfortunately for us, golf is an expensive sport but there are some manufacturers making great new clubs at slightly cheaper prices - Wilson and Cobra are the two that always come to mind as being 2/3’s the price of others! I also think, albeit you can’t often be custom fit for them, you can get a good deal by buying the previous model of a club! 👍🏼

I tried 7 or 8 sets of game improvement irons at my fitting as a complete newb. The G430 was the most forgiving, especially on actual grass. It still goes straight and fairly long when it feels like it would have been in the woods w blades.

@@weekendtourpros I bought these on Tuesday! This is the only place I’ve heard of the arccos sensors coming with the set which is awesome cause I’ve actually been looking at them for a while but never pulled the trigger. Do they come in the box with the set? It didn’t come up in my fitting. Thanks for the review!
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros Жыл бұрын
@@ggriff Hi Graham! Thanks for watching my video and for your question. You have to go on the Arccos website after you’ve bought the clubs (search for Ping Arccos sensors and it should come up). You have to enter a few details and create an Arccos account and then they post them to you. I think you might have to wait until the clubs arrive as I think you have to enter the serial number on the clubs which they tell you how to find but that may have changed. I did it when I got my Ping driver a few years back and got a full set of 14 sensors which was incredible! All the best with the clubs and I hope that helps! 👍🏼

Hi Luke, another great review, thank you! Believe it or not but I still haven't made my mind up between these and TM Stealth HD!? I'm very much edging towards Ping G430, but having another trial between these and TM next week, and then decision time!! Carry and overall distance are of little concern to me tbh, as all about gapping IMHO! Anything >145 I work my Ping 7H in, so only need 8i through to SW, and that's where my main dilemma is actually! Like most iron fittings these days, you can only trial 7i, and never even use this tbh, as just take out my 7H, so will only know if I've made the right decision once I have full set in my hands! That said, I'm not a 7i player, and still hit that very well, so one would assume hopefully that I hit my 8, 9 and wedges even better!? Well here's hoping, no matter which I opt for!!?? You've tried both models now, so may I ask plse which you would choose and why? For reference, I'm a mid-teens handicapper, and only use irons literally when I have to lol!! Note also that whichever I choose will have graphite shafts.. BR Andrew
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros Жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew! Thanks for your comment and the update! Yes I do think one of the overall weaknesses with any fitting these days is that you can only get fit using the 7i! The place I film at will let you try one of the other irons from their display set on their driving range but they cover the head with a film to stop it getting damaged so you can’t rely directly on the numbers but can get a feel for the weight, timing and how you get on with the club. I wonder if anywhere local to you offers something similar as that could really help you? I remember you saying your fitter was trying to get you one of the shorter irons to test? Hopefully that comes through! For me personally I love both irons. I think I prefer the looks and feel off the face of the Stealth HD more but appreciate that’s very personal and you could feel differently. In terms of performance I think both have their strengths but there’s something so consistent about the Ping that inspires confidence to me. It almost felt like it was doing the same thing every time and that is what I want. So I’d personally favour the Ping irons but the Stealth HD is excellent though so I’m nit picking here and don’t think either is a bad choice! 👍🏼

@@weekendtourpros Hi Luke, apologies for not getting back to you sooner! Cutting a long story short, I'm now the proud owner of 6 new Ping G430 irons, ie. 8i, 9i, PW, GW, AW, and SW, all with graphite shafts! My follow up session with fitter convinced me this was the way to go!! As you know, my only gripe was that I was unable to demo anything but 7i, so I was concerned that the shorter irons might potentially not live up to my expectations!! Boy, how wrong could I be lol!!!! Picked my set up last Friday, so turnaround was fantastic! Managed to test them out in my net in back garden and just fell in love with every club! Just in case I was dreaming, I went to my local range as has shot tracer, and this surpassed my expectations even further! The height, trajectory and compression these generate is unreal! Sure, a bad shot is still a bad shot, but these just breed confidence!! I think what has surprised me the most, and pleasantly I might add, are the 4 wedges!! Yes, the lofts are somewhat jacked up, but these are effing amazing, period!!! My wife and I played in a Mixed Am-Am at Fleetwood on Monday, and I let slip to her beforehand that these irons IMHO are a revelation, to which she replied, 'I can expect great things during the round them'!!?? I said nothing lol!! Right from the off, Hole 1, and yes, duffed 2nd with hybrid, so had about 105 yards into green! I confidently took out my new Ping AW, full shot, and bang, about 12 feet from the pin with check! Sank the putt, Par, thank you very much lol!! This was pretty much how it went for next 17 holes!! Thing is, and as mentioned above, these breed confidence, so my general play was boosted overall!! My only negative is that I now essentially have 4 wedges, so club selection will be key! Even the SW is outstanding, and worked a treat out of the numerous bunkers I found myself in!! I usually take out my Callaway Sure-Out 56 degree wedge, and the fact I stuck with Ping G430 SW throughout the whole round speaks volumes I feel...!!! To say I am excited for the weeks/months ahead would be an understatement!! No more manipulating my 7H for 130-140 range, I'll be using my irons thank you very much lol!!!! Ok, 1 round in, sure, but these have brought back the 'fun' into golf!! Just gutted it's taken me 4 years to realise that the Mizuno irons I had were NOT suited to my game!!!! From a smiling Cheshire Cat!!!! 😁 BR Andrew

@@andrewferguson1013 Hi Andrew! Wow this all sounds fantastic! I’m really pleased for you! I think buying new equipment is always exciting but if you know the equipment is going to help you score better or even make the bad shots a bit better then that’s what it’s all about! Sounds like you’ve had a great first outing with them and I’m sure there will be more to come as you get used to your yardages and ball flight etc. with them. I wouldn’t get too worried about having 4 wedges. The name of the club is largely irrelevant these days - I think it would be better if manufacturers just wrote the lofts on them! Ultimately the driver goes the furthest and the lob wedge goes the shortest and everything else in the middle is about gapping and delivering for you the optimal ball flight that’s as repeatable as possible. No one cares what the club is called when they are scoring better! Haha! I hope you continue to have fun with the clubs and enjoy the summer season! All the best! 👍🏼

Hi Danny! Thanks for watching the video and for your question. I must admit it was about 9 months ago that I hit the Ping G425 irons so I can’t remember exactly... However I don’t recall the G425’s feeling as noticeably firm and certainly not enough for me to comment on it whereas I definitely noticed it with the G430’s. Not in build quality ill tell you that much. my friend and I both got these irons and the badges are made of a cheap garbage material. he walks the course and after 2 months his irons look absolutely mangled like they are 8 years and and have fallen off the cart 10 times. Ping recognizes the complaint and offers to swap the badges out..... all for what? so it can happen again? what a terrible choice by ping the year they choose to raise the price of this set by several hundred dollars. I am selling my G430s and gone back to G425's that have quality badges that don't get insanely damaged looking. I'm wearing of new ping products especially after trading in 3 different driver heads that came with dents on the crown all to give up and go to titleist instead. what a shame.

Hi Kylesgolf! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment! That’s such a shame that you’ve had that experience! I must admit it’s the first I’ve heard of anyone having issues so hopefully it’s just a one off but I’d totally understand why it’s dented your confidence in the clubs. I once had an issue with a putter insert coming off an Odyssey and to be fair they replaced it with a brand new model and I’ve had no issues since fortunately but if it did happen again I’d struggle to buy another for sure.
