My fitting Tuesday I got the G430 Irons with the Alta quick 45 shaft loved these irons consistent with a slight draw.They are great looking clubs. I'm 70 years old.

Hi Sophie! I like your videos a lot, especially those club review and test videos because my swing speed (even most launch condition) is very close to yours. I guess, many average-swing-speed amateur golfers may share my opinion. However, I would very much appreciate if you could always mark clearly a few very important aspects during your reviews. These include your club data (clubhead speed etc.), shaft specs, and exact club loft. It does not mean much to say 'this 7 iron is xx yards longer than another 7 iron' without loft, shaft spec and club data. Your reviews could be much more valuable to your audience if you could share those critical data.

Loved your review Sophie on the new Pings…I was looking to upgrade from my 425 irons to the 430 irons…I’m a Ping guy and was looking at other models due to the yardage that they give, but I’m sure now after seeing your review that I will be getting the new 430 irons…keep up the great work…

Imho I played the 425 for last year and they were ok but now fitted for Mizuno Jpx 923 pro which are great. Off subject of irons, the Ping wedges are way underrated. I would play glide over Vokey.

Good looking yes except for the Ping trademark cut in the hosel which completely spoils the visual appeal of their irons. Dont quite understand the point of it which no other brand uses.

Thanks Sophie. Bottom line is that they altered the loft and CG to get more speed but retain launch. The trade-off was the loss of a little bit of spin. They still look like hockey sticks to me, with that long heel to toe distance. Probably a good club for the player that needs distance but has trouble losing the ball to the right (for a RH golfer).

I think that graphite shafts are always a better option for amateur golfers for that extra bit of forgiveness. They are more expensive though...

Brilliant video and as always ping don’t go over the top with new club claims like majority of other brands, they said what it did again. Brilliant brand specially there woods. Would love to see a head to head with the g430 irons v Stealth irons

Another good review. Well done Ping for showing integrity with their equipment releases. Taking thier time to make actual improvements. TM seem to want to have something new on the shelves every other week. After watching reviews on the Stealth 2 there are minimim improvements. Last years looked better I thought. Its these bold claims that make you feel the club you've had for 10 mins is now useless. I just feel this agressive sales technique is unjust. Take your time and bring something out when you can really substantiate claims.

I went back and forth between these two irons, The good hits were comparable, but the miss hits the Ping was better. Since i am no pro, i purchased the Pings and couldn't be more happy.

Great review Sophie and look like great irons. I’ve got T300 currently and very happy with them, but will out of interest test the G430, Stealth 2, Cobra Aerojet, probably not Callaway as more expensive.

Great video...I have the G425s now but that "extra" wedge has me thinking so what club I have to eliminate to compensate for this new gapping? IMHO they should have just relabeled the 6 to a 5 and so forth...not sure if I have to get rid of my 5i or what if the 6 is basically a 5.5 iron.

Agree - I also have the G425’s and would be much more interested in these if they hadn’t added the second wedge between the PW and 50°. I like my current gapping/bag setup, so I will either stick with my G425’s or maybe try the i525’s. I think the i525 lofts are all within 0.5° of the G425’s.

Get it in retro fit at 31 degree 7 iron. Spin will go up and landing angle will increase

At the end of season (2022) I bought the Ping 710s how do these compare to the 430s I believe they are more forgiving? How are they different?

Evening Paul, I'm initially looking at 5-PW. I have 49.5, 54, and 58 degree wedges, and I recently bought a cheap Vega 46 degree wedge. So, hopefully, that will plug the gap.

Great review. In the written review what did you mean by “hard to move thru the air”? Large so more air resistance? I am gravitating towards the i230 (or Mizuno Pro 223) due to the size and turf interaction you get with a players cavity iron.

Yet again a really informative video. I have a HI of 14.9 and play Ping i200. I'm looking to upgrade and have my eye on the i230 irons. Do you consider these to be a better club than the i230s?

Hi Keith, the G430 and i230 are aimed at different types of golfers, the chances are you would be one or the other.

Thanks for your vid. I like Ping, but I’ve always felt that Ping lacks something in their line up. The gap is too large between the G400/700 series versus the i200/500 series. The G400/700 series has too much offset, too thick a top line, and too large a face. The i200/500 series is just a smidge too small, especially in the longer irons. They have nothing in the sweet spot occupied by Apex, P790, ZX5, etc.

Great review... as always getting the honest facts and feelings. No I don't know the history of club making and the standard lofts... but surely these days nearly every set off the shelf is stronger and non standard. Couldn't say Titleist, Mizuno or Ben Hogan reproduce a classic players iron and just change the numbers to make people feel like they are hitting it further 🤦

The manufacturers list the lofts and they are easily checked. It’s not something you can fudge. Every manufacturer has different standards for what loft their irons are, but they’re all published

Manufacturers assign a name to their individual irons, but for the G430 irons they are closer to one iron less, so PW is really more a 9 iron, etc. Just a name or number on the bottom of the club.

@@darunia484 golfers should build their WITB by good gapping from their longest approach club through to their most lofted wedge. The number on the bottom of the club does not matter. One well known pro golfer has two clubs with the same number in his bag because they carry different distances and have different height trajectories.

You will end up with a 48 degree gap wedge which is a pitching wedge then two more wedges but probably end at a five iron as the 4 will be too strong lofted for most players to get anything out of.

I have no issues with stronger lofts through the set but they shouldn't be so strong at the wedge end. 41 is stupid, you now need 2 gap wedges.

I would think you would be getting at least a 3 yd gain with the stronger loft. So the gain is really loft? I know you play the i525 would you consider these instead? Could you blend them (or would gapping be a problem)? Really find your videos helpful. My swing speed and distances are about the same as yours. I was looking at the i525 but concerned with the amount of bounce on the scoring irons. 13 seems like a lot considering my misses tend to be thin shots. Any suggestions? Thx, Ric

There does appear to be some gain but at the expense of slightly lower spin/holding greens which might not be worth it (depending on your swing speed)

I like the four degree loft gapping at the wedge end of the set, but not the 13° and 14° bounce. May be difficult to use on tight lies and hard fairways.

I can hit my G15 6-iron 150 yards, and I haven't spent $1200 dollars......Thanks Sophie. Honestly people, these golf companies are just used car salesmen. The USGA and the R&A set their latest specs on what is allowed when designing golf clubs around 2005. I'll continue to hit a 6-iron instead of a jacked-up lofted 7-iron and save my money.

So as a golfer they have made lofts 1* stronger. Gained 4 yds ,slightly decreased backspin by a negligible amount ,lowered spin by .3 degree . Please someone find an older club head of the identical loft put the same shaft in and put it on a robot to hit. Then we find out the improvements made not by just increasing loft. I am sceptical of the claims v reality

Nothing has changed in irons in years. It's almost all hype. Here are the major changes in irons over the past 55 years: -- Cast clubs with perimeter weighting (Ping) -- Oversized irons (Callaway) -- Perimeter-weighted forged (Hogan) -- Hollow heads and multiple-metal (many) -- CG moved throughout the set (many) -- Single-length (A few; Wishon is my favorite) That's it. Everything else is incremental. Do you want desperately to hit your 8-iron 10 yards longer? No problem. Hit the 7.

Need the ball not to run out! Would be very frustrating if your shot hits the green and runs out / off the green. Need confidence and consistency that your shot will stop after hitting the green. You agree?

These new power bats just scare the shit out of me, as I am a highball hitter with pretty good spin with my old Adams irons, and they play well in the Kansas winds I play in as the SPIN helps keep my ball online!!! But these NO BALL SPINNING irons with some Kansas wind, I see the ball flying all over the place with NO CONTROL and the ball dropping out of the sky with no spin running anywhere but where you want the ball to go !!! Everyone chasing the fake extra distance BULLCRAP, all you are doing is hitting a stronger lofted iron with a HIGHER NUMBER stamped on it to make your ego THINK you are hitting it longer ......LOL

G430 has stronger lofts than I525 which accounts for some of the distance gain. Many reviewers have business or sponsorship connections with certain manufacturers.
