Just ordered a set yesterday after a fitting. Played to a 7 hcp this year (with a great short game), but needed to hit more greens consistently. Had played Ping i200's the past 2 years with Project X 6.0 shafts, but felt I was struggling trying to work in swing changes over past few months with better rhythm. Note - I was still hitting my 7 iron 160+ yards, but felt I was struggling more than I should be finding consistency. I finally felt there was a good looking (more of a player's) option with the Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal "PRO" version allowing me (and my pride) to gain both distance and more importantly to me accuracy. Trusted the fitter whole heartedly and picked up 11 yards while only seeing a shot dispersion of 2 yards right and left. Was off 7 yards prior and more erratic. Was also surprised to see Mizuno fitting option show the KBS Tour 90 Stiff as the 1st of the 3 recommended options, but it felt great and it ended up being the clear cut winner. Just as a side note that the Srixon Z585 performed very well and would have been my 2nd option. Thanks for all of the great videos!

Ping for woods, Mizuno for irons... for me at least!

Many years ago when I was living in the US I had a set of Ping Zing2 irons, perhaps the ugliest irons ever made but they were great to play with. I added a 2 iron to the set and it was awesome, in fact I still have the full set with original grips in the UK and play with them sometimes when I'm back, they still compare well with modern irons.

Played Ping for years, most recently G25’s. Changed my irons for 900 Hot Metals earlier this year and recently changed driver, fairway and hybrid to Mizuno - all great clubs and the variety of no-cost customisation allowed by Mizuno is staggering. Still have my Vault 2.0 Voss though, it’s a keeper...

Was still in bed on the USA East Coast when this was live. I'm using the G700 now. Had several sets of PING 20 or so years ago but have been playing all levels of Mizuno irons since, from MP to the old MX and even JPX. I was curious about the G700 and watched your earlier review, including the part where you are concerned that the "low-spinning" aspect of these irons would be a concern when it comes to north/south dispersion. As someone who is not a highly skilled player, I understood your concern but wondered if that concern would actually apply to a double-digit handicap, who isn't going to have perfectly consistent strike on every shot. After seeing another review that included outdoor testing, where balls had enough high launch and spin to stop quickly on the green, I demoed them (indoors) and saw that my worst swings were only about 5 yards offline left/right. There's certainly a lot of technology in them, as they are longer than my JPX 900 Forged, which are only ONE DEGREE weaker in loft. The only concern, as you had mentioned is that when I absolutely flush one, it.. is.. gone!!! But wouldn't that be the case with most other irons as well. As for that dispersion, I'm finding that I'm actually pretty consistent with them, withing acceptable levels, as a 10-14 handicap. Cheers!

Just caught the end of the live this morning as I got ready for work. Lots of fun! Really enjoyed that! The Ping background info was really cool as well. Opinions on Ping clubs are always very strong either way. Worked great as a live vlog. Cheers boys!

Never really been a Ping iron fan but love the look of there drivers/fairways/hybrids. Don't know why I feel that way considering I've never hit any of them, just do. Love the look of all the Mizuno stuff and again can't say why because I've never hit one of there clubs either.

I used to be a ping hater shanking and fatting my way through any test I did but I had to change my irons and after annoying my pro for hours of testing various clubs the ping just kept out performing everything. Now love my chunky game improving pings makes golf fun again!!

Not tried the G700 but have tested the 919 HM - I really disliked them. Didn't like the feel, struggled to control strike (maybe the lack of offset?) but I blame the player not the club! Loved the look. For me big surprise was the 919 Tour which I doubted I could hit, but it turned out to be very easy although the 5i looks so small I would worry about missing the ball completely

Another great video. As someone who is just getting in to playing regularly explanations of the differences between forged, cast, blades etc are really helpful. It would also be good to get an idea of price point (appreciate there will be different offers available). Comparison between, for example Callaway Rogue and XR would be interesting. Keep up the good work bruh!

Of course the thing that can't be shown in a comparison with only 5 strikes each is the difference in forgiveness for off center strikes. Wouldn't it be nice if someone did reviews with a lot more strikes and maybe showed the strike pattern and the numbers for those strikes. But who's got time for a thing like that.

@georgesmith46396 жыл бұрын
@@MarkCrossfield What do you mean the "results" are "the same"? that the forgiveness is "the same"?? So if a strike is 1/2 inch off-center towards the toe the result is "the same" for both irons? if not then you're making my point.

With the technology available today, all of the top drivers are the same despite what manufacturers say. Forged irons will always be forged and will stay the same (I hope) and that's why golfers play them. Game improvement irons are where the manufacturers have room to move around. My question to the Muppet Masters is this: have irons reached the same "wall" as the drivers have?

Um I most respectfully disagree with your driver accessment, I get very different results from different Drivers.
