Been playing these for s month and love them. Feel firm but soft if you can relate. I've tried forged wedges from other DTC as well, they feel too soft. These have a nice "click" to them. Recommend these. Great video guys.❤

Been waiting for this. I got the black 60. First round was after 4 days of rain. 635am tee time and wet grass. The wedge spun really well when wet. My callaway jaws raw not so much.

It is really hard to listen these wedge reviews sometimes. With Mike's shaft lean and attack angle he has absolutely no matter what bounce and grind he plays in full shots. Higher bounce will not affect strike location at all (if you hit the ball first and don't chunk it). You would need around 30° of bounce that "bounce would be used" in Mikes (or any good players) full shots. Besides the shape of the divot, the only thing bounce & grind will effect in full shots is the way wedge sits behind the ball, that's it. Any meaningfull wedge review needs no be done outdoors guys. 1. Shot over the bunker from fluffy lie. 2. Bunker shots 3. Wet sand bunker shots 4. Shallow chipper / steep chipper in bermuda. 5. High chip shots from hard turf. And so on.

I hope the Eye wedge gets broken out into its own line in the future. From a product perspective, it’s a different ideal customer profile. You’ll very rarely see someone who is interested in a conventional wedge shape that would also consider high-toe wedges. In that sense, it made more sense offered as mostly a grind option (without the high toe) like in the Glide and Glide 2.0 lines. As its own product, the high-toe Eye wedge would then be able to explore its own set of features. Full-face grooves, bigger club faces, its own multiple bounce options… It’s already a proven product nowadays with options from other OEMs. Would be great to see Ping take that marketshare back for the wedge Karsten invented.
@kevinfletcher69567 ай бұрын
This makes 0 sense. It's own line? If you need or fit into an EYE2 grind, you get that wedge. If a Wide Sole is determined to be a better option for a golfer, then you would get that one. A proper Fitter will immediately identify if a particular player could benefit from that original design that Karsten brought to market. The current one is a 3D scan of the original EYE2, so changing to different bounces and adding full face grooves doesn't make sense if you are trying to keep it "original". The reason why it is successful is the wide sole, low bounce design - tons of heel relief, thin heel for better performance in bunkers and deep rough. If full face grooves actually offered something to the end consumer, PING would build it into the design. Copying what other brands are adding to their own take on the EYE2 for no performance benefit seems silly. Golfers get fit into Standard Sole 54/56 and then do the 58/60 in the EYE2 all the time. Having it part of a larger family is not a negative, but likely a positive, highlighting the variety of options.
@lawbinson7 ай бұрын
@@kevinfletcher6956 First off, what's with the animosity? Anyway, I wish that were case. If looks didn't matter to many golfers, OEMs wouldn't try so hard to achieve a certain look. Reality is, a significant portion of golfers are affected by aesthetics. It either causes a level of comfort/discomfort based on what they've used in the past, or leads to some sort of compensation. Often times based on looks alone, players will select clubs to test and not to test. You see this on this channel as well. Not a single chance you'll see Mikey or Ian with a off-set, hi-toe wedge in their bag. Even if it tests well for them. And that' ok. It's easy to see that the Ping Eye wedge has gotten smaller and smaller to conform to the rest of the line. For no good reason other than aesthetics to attempt to cater to a group of players who don't even like hi-toe wedges. Now, that's a change for the sake of change, that leaves many actual fans of the hi-toe design hanging. Full-face grooves having no performance benefit is a questionable comment. What is that based off of, and for what demographic of golfer? It's fine if you don't like the look of it, but that does not mean it has no benefit for anyone else.

No, Ping is not changing the wedge game, Edison wedges are changing the game for regular golfers who don't have endless hours to practice wedge shots like the pros do. Single grind, cg is higher up. Simple and easy to hit.
