Thank you! I try to provide a lot of light, heat, and cool temps at night when I can. Hopefully that helps you color yours up if you're not having luck.

Yeah, especially if you're growing them under grow lights. Thanks for the comment!

The only carnivorous plants I have that get a lot of moss growing on the soil is my Pinguiculas also, the others not so much. I tidy them up often but it comes back quite quickly. They’re due a repot next year so maybe new soil will help with less moss growth. Thanks for sharing my friend 👍🏻🌵☀️

I'd love to see your pings if you haven't shared! I'll look through your video feed now 🤓

Haven’t done a video on them yet but I will very soon as they’re in flower now and look great. 👍🏻

Yeah I fine if the soil is somewhat aerated mixture of sand and little bit of the Pete moss and perlite that will keep the pinguecula roots happy. Don't leave them sitting to long in water if the soil sticks to your finger it's moist. You are correct about that moss choking the plants. I have lost some sundews because of this. Thanks for making this video 🤩🍃🍃🍃🍃

You're welcome! Interesting to hear this about sundews -- I hadn't thought of that.

Wow! Those are really small plants I do plan to a ping collection when I move to Florida this video is helpful
@WeirdHousePlants5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, highly recommend them! Pings are such an underrated carnivorous plant. FL has some amazing local native varieties you need to check out too. You'll be able to keep them outdoors!

put some small holes in a paper bowl, drainage seem a bit poor, but some non/succulent plants seem to struggle with soil drying up to fast in my apartment, maybe it'll work out.

You keep using the word minerals and minerally, but you're meaning more like grit than nutrition, right? And can you please write the species of the larger one with the black center? I want to see more of that beaut.

I thought mexican butterworts prefer gritty grainy well draining alkaline substrate? I have had a weser and florian that did well in peat initially, but after a few weeks they both gradually declined and now look half dormant/dead. I thought it was due to the substrate so I repotted them into a gravel+coral mix with powdered dolomite lime. It's been about 2 weeks now, I see some change, but not sure if it's a clear improvement.

Which pinguicula is that? So lovely! I need to get me some. 🥰 Any recommendations for shops?
@WeirdHousePlants4 жыл бұрын
I would try California Carnivores if you order online, but you will probably get even better prices and selection if you talk to local carnivorous plant hobbyists in your area. Check to see if there is a local club or facebook group, and I think many people will be happy to sell to you for very cheap! That's where most of mine come from.

That's my biggest fear once the pinguecula goes black in the center there is a 100% chance guarantee it's on its way to a funeral 🍃🍃♠️☹️😭
@WeirdHousePlants4 жыл бұрын
Ha, you're right. It's very difficult to recover them after that. I hope you have good luck though!

You can propagate them via leaf pullings if that happens, that can give you a chance at keeping a spare plant
