I'm from Delhi, and I can tell you the bad guys are not exaggerated at all. A LOT of the guys here are pretty much exactly like those "villains" in the movie. It's scary really.
@25crstal7 жыл бұрын
The whole point of the movie, in my opinion, was that whether you are Saint or a sinner, No means No. A prostitute walking the streets, a wife in the bedroom, a nun praying in the church have the same exact rights when it comes to their bodies.

Indian society is way behind in this 'human rights' stuff. I mean, hundreds of millions of husbands actually believe that they have the right to force themselves upon their wives coz they're married. They genuinely believe that it cannot be r*pe coz they're married. We have so much to learn.

I'm actually glad that the whole "allegedly" scene wasn't set up, because the objective of this movie was to emphasize on the issue of victim blaming and the way these cases are handled in India. You have to know more about criminal activity in India to really appreciate the movie.

As a law student, trust me, the court drama wasn't dramatized at all. I've seen a lot more drama in real trial courts in India. Also, trial courts do not always follow prescribed procedure and the lawyers practicing in them are often as awful and male chauvinistic as that Piyush Mishra guy. Thankfully, the situation is a hundred times better in the High Courts and Supreme Court of India.

Actually the movie's motive was to show the stereotypes attached to Indian girls.. especially if a girl is independent nd living alone. The movie tries to address them nd it did that well!!
@kanupriyajaireth62266 жыл бұрын
In an interview Shoojit Sircar had confessed that he & the other writers had wanted a different end in which the girl’s loose the case & the guy’s would be declared not guilty but their wives told them to change the end & make the girl’s win in the end. Pink is a very important movie. I think it wasn’t given due credit as it should’ve. It’s one of the best movies of Indian cinema at least for women.

btw Piyush Mishra is the narrator in Gangs of Wasseypur, and he also penned a few songs of that movie, composed music for at least one song, I think. He is an actor-lyricist-musicion. He does have a particular way of acting, but he is a very good actor. I haven't seen this movie though, so can't say if this one is a not-so-good performance of his.

Amitabh Bachchan is the greatest actor of all time he outshines De Niro's and Al Pacino's of this world, they may have done the better movies no doubt but he's better than both.

@seanmcbride18 жыл бұрын
thatsbad100 Al Pacino has never done comedy which is supposed to be the hardest form of acting. De Niro has done a few like the Analyze This movies, but Amitabh Bachchan has mastered even comedy, I'm a big Pacino admirer I love his acting but I don't think he's better than Amitabh Bachchan, plus Bachchan's personality, his voice, his screen presence. The only thing in Pacino's and De Niro's bags are better movies and perhaps better roles. Just think about it there's no style of acting that Amitabh Bachchan can't do. His presence in Agneepath was much more stronger that Pacino's in Scarface, there's the restaurant scene that was inspired from Scarface in Agneepath. Bachchan did as good a job as Pacino.

In order for reviews to be short, generally, they either have to be scripted, heavily edited down (which would take a considerable amount of time) or bullet points have to be very prepared. And if it's going to be scripted ANYWAY, I would prefer to do a sketch review like I did Kahaani, 24, Kapoor & Sons and Fan. People have often wanted more details and naturally that makes for longer videos. I've decided that these discussion review videos are meant for people who want long form. It's like a podcast in that way or a hang out as opposed to me trying to chop through every pause and edit out a multitude of possibly nice moments. Regardless of length, the view count has been fairly consistent. So it seems like the majority are happy with this long form and it makes it easier to review movies a bit more consistently. The length will not be consistently between 10 and 15 minutes. Just depends on the movie and how much discussion it inspires.

(SPOILER) When you say that the antagonist was very clearly bad, I think that was also quite deliberate, because a massive issue the Indian society faces is that a guy could go as far as raping someone, be the clear guilty party, and the women are still made to feel as if they have done something wrong, or encouraged them. In an interview I read that the movie originally planned to give a (SPOILER) guilty verdict for the girls, to show the injustice faced by many women in India
@saikrishna69978 жыл бұрын
even women rape too...and in equal proportion but society joke on male victims and they dont even get registered due to lack of support from this female favouring society,and stigma of stereotypes like '' women cant rape '' like wtf how stupid is that... and above that almost mojority of rape cases in india are false allegations
@niyatibhasin8177 жыл бұрын
Diksha Karwasra I was gonna say the exact same thing. Rajvir and the lawyer were blatantly evil because in real life they are like that. They are clearly in the wrong, they buy people off, show no remorse, blame the girl for everything and actually believe that girls who drink/eat/laugh/wear short clothes/go out at night/live alone/ breathe or do anything are their "property". men like Rajvir exist. so do people like his lawyer and the SHO ( whose character I hated the most in the movie). it's a reality and we have to change the mindset of the society by actually starting with the boys. I'm not saying that all rape cases are true, but society is partial towards men. especially powerful men
@niyatibhasin8177 жыл бұрын
Sai Krishna what about those cases that go unreported and / or are silenced.
@niyatibhasin8177 жыл бұрын
Sai Krishna I agree that men are raped too. the perpetrators should be punished. I'm absolutely not against that. but u can't label every woman as a false accusator and every man as a rapist. the movie highlights the thinking of the society. that women who laugh around or go out late at night are seen as okay to be raped. that's entirely wrong and that's what he did. Rajvir. and everybody else supported him. which happens every day. do u know how many cases go unreported? do u know how many kids are raped or molested and then usually killed? u do realise that eve teasing is a big issue too in our society and that should not be okay.
@niyatibhasin8177 жыл бұрын
Sai Krishna , by the way. Aitraaz the movie is on a female rapist. It highlights that issue. plus I wanna add that gay men get raped too but they can't report it either in India as here practising gay sex is a crime. that's a big bad issue too.

Bollywood Gyan: Yes Amitabh bachchan is considered to be a legend in Bollywood. Many of his movies were remade by current crop of actors like SRK ( don) and Hritik roshan (Agneepath). He was called one man industry back in 1970s (1973-1984) when he ruled the roost. For some of his notable performances please watch 1)Deewar 2) trishul 3) Don ( the older version) 4) Sholay 5) Sharaabi and 6) Pa(highly recommended) . Big B as he is fondly called, also worked for a miniscule role in The great Gatsby, as a friendly gesture. Out of 40-45 mainstream Bollywood leading actors, Big B is still considered to be one of the most saleable star with whom most indian directors would love to work and roles are written specifically for him

Okay, so at the end there, Jaby, Achara, you say that Minal wasn't fighting in the van. I say that observation is incorrect. she was held down by two men against whom she was writhing and struggling. She fought as much as she could with all the restraint being put on her.

Hey Jaby, Piyush Mishra is a good actor, singer and lyricist. He was in Gangs of Wasseypur. He played one of the two guys who accompanied Sardar Khan in part one and one who survives till the end in part two.

Films were not technically advanced then. It would be a shame to Mr. Bachchan. He is the best. Period.

Watch his Piku, you'll be surprised how versatile he is. The trailer of Piku isn't half as good as the movie. It's a great story portraying the relationship between a father and a daughter.

FACTS: The judge in the movie is Dhritiman Chatterjee and he is also an eminent Bengali actor...also just for the record actor Piyush Mishra was also present in the Gangs of Wasseypur saga...he is quite talented and mostly features in movies directed by Anurag Kashyap(although i should not stereotype)

I think the running part how i see it was that Meenal was trying to escape all that happened.......well people tend to do that.......more epinephrine or good harmones are pumped the harder u run, making u feel better and momentarily take u out from the situation you are in....so yea that was my takeaway...

Btw, courts are almost the same in India as has been shown in the movie :)

As you referred to the topic of courtroom dramas, I would suggest you watch the 2014 film Court. It's one of the best dramas seen in Indian Cinema as it captures the real workings of an Indian court.

I think the judge acted superbly. Zero prejudice. Proper depiction not just of district court reality but of the legal system regardless of appeals which have less drama.

jaby, I can't believe you didn't remember Piyush Mishra from Gangs of Wasseypur. he was literally the only guy who survived from Sultan Khan to Faisal Khan. (the entire saga) I think he is a brilliant actor.

so I guess when you say that the bad people seemed so obvious.. it was because it's pretty much like that here.. the movie mainly tried to show how people are so bad and they do absolutely nothing to hide it..but they still get away with it because of the power that they have...
@indu74348 жыл бұрын
Jaby Koay You started your review by saying that the antagonist seemed like caricatures but honestly there is a considerable section in India's population that thinks like the antagonist in the movie. They exist.
