Not being a virgin is still an issue with tonnes of Indians, literally. Even though it's legally allowed but the society is very conservative over here. The thing which I hate the most about India is it's communities and people of society. Though it's about certain regions in India. Developed places don't really have much issues like that.

I'm glad you guys watched This movie, and it's true being a girl and gone through similar stuff I can tell you this does happen, I was 18 when I was forced marry probably twice my age guy just because my family liked them Now I'm 20 and got Divorce from creep fighting all alone and still fighting for my studies so I don't have to marry another jerk my family selects. Many male propably thinks if she is your wife you get licence to have sex weather she wants or not and funny thing is that your family tells you that that's why he married you, So he can sleep with you. There are some people who watch these kinda film and talks like they are Saints but they never acknowledge that their daughter has been through same thing. It's sad but harsh reality... I watched this review some time ago, which made me want to watch the film again. Just did, back here to rewatch the review while still wiping tears off my cheeks. I'm so dehydrated from the crying, phew. Especially that last 'No means no' monologue and then the gorgeous poem that Bacchan recites in the credits.

I LOVE the contrast between the prosecutor and the lawyer. It's *GENIUS* . The prosecutor's entire character represents the society; what the society always has to say about the women. That's why he speaks very fast, asking so many questions, cutting off 'unnecessary' details, making his own assumptions, creating his own narrative, pressuring and gaslighting the person in question. On the other hand, Amitabh Bachan's character represents a person who takes his time to make fair judgment, who thinks of logic and rational, who knows what matters and what not, separate irrelevant details etc. I personally think the reason we don't get much of his story is because his character is meant to represent wisdom with a heart.

I don't think you should ever say "don't watch any films by these actors" because even actors who have mostly bad films can have a good one now and then, and quality is in the end based on personal subjective taste. From the actors you told them never to watch a film from, I can name quite a few good ones (Drishyam and Omkara from Ajay, Swades and Chak De India from SRK, Jodhaa Akbar and ZNMD from Hrithik). It's not fair to tell people new to the Bollywood industry to not watch things solely based on your taste, which isn't going to be universal (for example you named Deepika on here as one of the best actresses when in my opinion Alia is a better actress and has more diverse roles, and Bajirao Mastani was an absolute dud for me). Positive recommendations is another story.

@@ActuallyAnanya drishyam was absolutely dreadful. Chak de India was a copy of The miracle in more than many ways. Swades was way too dramatic. I liked znmd but only because of abhay, kalki and farhan. Hrithik made me sleep. Jodhaa akbar was pathetic lol. If you think Bajirao Mastani was a dud then I have nothing more to say to you. :) . Omg was a copy as well but atleast they acknowledged it. And about my favourite actors part. That is my opinion. To each his own. . And I sincerely hate all the movies of salman, shahrukh, ajay. So I want to save a couple of good guys from mind numbingly stupid movies.

@@bhaskarjyotiborah5357 again these are your opinions. Not everyone is going to share those opinions, we don't share the same ones and that's fine. But telling someone not to watch something before they can form their own opinions is you assuming others will share yours, which is kind of arrogant. I don't like any of Salman Khan's films but I'd never tell anyone to not watch anything from him because there is a chance they'd like something from him, even if I don't. I didn't like Bajirao, that's my prerogative, I can tell people I don't care for it but I won't tell them not to watch it because at the end of the day people need to form their own opinions on things. Maybe learn to respect that others have different tastes and stop being so passive aggressive :)

Guys, it’s brilliant that you recognize and appreciate the talent from the Indian film industry. But I say this (no offence) that a lot of us don’t care that much about the Oscars. In the US it could be a big deal but so what if Pink wasn’t nominated for one. It’s an excellent movie and a lot of us appreciated it, loved the actors and it won awards elsewhere. So we’re happy. If you liked pink then it's just starters. There are many good cinemas with a main course.Try these Udaan Matrubhoomi Swades Khosla ka ghosla Black Friday Shahid Aligarh Bandid Queen. And for your information the last movie that went for an Oscar nomination was Lagaan in 2000. Most movies from India doesn't get recognised.

Excellent review , every time I see this movie , it breaks my heart . Amitab Bacchan also did a cameo in “ the great Gatsby “ with Leonardo DiCaprio and his old movie stills was used in “ slum dog millionaire” . Probably I am wrong in saying this about my own mother but I remember when the film was released here in India my mother and I had separately gone to watch the film with our respective friends so we were discussing about it and I said how good that part was where Amitabh Bachchan was stating the various “RULES” that a decent woman must follow and that is when I found out that my mother believed that the “RULES” were perfectly ideal and the makers were actually trying to spread knowledge to women through the film. My mother is highly educated , more qualified than my father. I can’t even blame my community for my mothers beliefs , my family and the the director of this film share the same last name. I used to look up to my mother till that day.

XR Team I did watch it and Korbin tried but he was having issues with the subtitles on his TV (they wouldn’t show up). He doesn’t want to watch it without the subtitles. Promise you he’s figuring it out and watching soon 👍🏼
